Hi! My name is Taina! This report is focusing on the Latin country of Costa Rica.
Costa Rica is situated in Middle America bordering both the Caribbean Sea
and the North Pacific Ocean between Nicaragua and Panama. It is probably
slightly smaller than West Virginia. It has a coastline of 1,290 km.
Costa Rica has a varied climate -- it can be tropical and subtropical; dry
season (December to April); rainy season (May to November). It is cooler in the
highlands. The lowest point in Costa Rica is the Pacific Ocean - 0m and the
highest point is Cerro Chirripo - 3,810 m.
There are occasional earthquakes and hurricanes along the Atlantic coast.
There is frequent flooding of lowlands at the onset of the rainy season and
landslides and some active volcanoes.
The estimated population of Costa Rica is 4,000,000. There are quite a lot
of ethnical groups in Costa Rica - white (including Mestizo) 94%, black 3%,
Amerindian 1%, Chinese 1%, other 1%. Spanish is the offical language in Costa
Rica, but a lot of people also speak English.
Democratic Republic is the government type in Costa Rica. The capital is San
José.
