4th of july


                        


It was twilight on 4th of july
sparkling colors were
strewn across the sky
and we sat close enough
that we just barely touched
while candles
went soaring above us
and wearing my sandles

so starry eyed
on the flowery hillside
breathless and sighed
as you watched them you just cried

thunder clouds
hung around
so threateningly
and the sky
opened wide
showering

truly i have never felt the same
like this 4th of july
truly i could never feel the same as i felt
this 4th of july
