My Star Trek Story
Hi! My name is
Ruth and as you can see I'm a big Star Trek fan. This site will
be unlike any Star Trek site you have ever seen. But first the
story of how I got hooked on Star Trek.
I didn't get
into Star Trek until after it went off the air, but when I did, I
did it in a big way. I started out taping it on audio tapes. My
husband and kids thought I was nutz. This was back in the mid
'70s. I saw "The Menagerie Part 2" twice before I ever
saw Part 1. That was when NBC was rerunning them. When Paramount
was suppose to revive it in the late'70s I couldn't wait for it
to came back. Needless to say, I was very disappointed when I
found out it wasn't coming back. By this time I was a devoted
Star Trek fan and wanted more of it!
When the movies
came out I went to see each one. Really like them a lot. Have all
nine of them on video tape.
Then when they
announced that "Star Trek: The Next Generation" was
coming out I was skeptical. I wanted more of Captain Kirk, Mr.
Spock and the rest of the Enterprise crew, not a new Enterprise
and crew. Well, being a big Star Trek fan I watched it, just
knowing I wouldn't like it, and I didn't! I loved it! It had a
great crew and some fantastic stories. Got them all on tape.
When "Deep
Space Nine" came out, I couldn't wait. Loved that show too.
Then couldn't wait for "Voyager". But, alas, I had to
because they put it on UPN and at the time I couldn't get it. I
watched "The Next Generation" and "Deep Space
Nine" on the Fox Channel. Then I found out that "Deep
Space Nine" was going to be on UPN for its fourth season and
I wouldn't be able to watch it, real bummer. *pout*. But in
January 1996 Fox started running the fourth season *VBS*, so I
got to see all but one ("The Visitor") and I really
want to see it because its where Sisko dies and Jake is all grown
up and I don't know what happens!! ***UPDATE*** I finally got to see this one and it was GREAT!!!
When "The
Next Generation" went off the air after seven years I was
frantic. Thought it was appropriate that Q was in the last one
("All Good Things"), since he was in the first one
("Encounter At Farpoint"). Really liked the last show.
I hated the fact that they took it off the air. As the years went
by it got better and better. I still had "Deep Space
Nine" at the time though and watched it faithfully.
When they
transferred "Deep Space Nine" to UPN I was lost for
awhile. Couldn't watch "Deep Space Nine" or
"Voyager". Missed the first two and part of the third
season of "Voyager" and part of the fifth season of
"Deep Space Nine". Then we got UPN and I've been
watching "Voyager" and "Deep Space Nine"
faithfully every week. Now what happened, off goes "Deep
Space Nine" *pout*pout*pout*. But I still have
"Voyager" for a couple more years, hopefully, and have
my tapes so I can still watch them all. Plus I'm getting videos
of "Voyager" so I can catch up with it.
The last few
shows of "DS9" were really great and really liked the
two-hour season finale, ("What You Leave Behind"). The
way it ended I know they'll be coming out with a movie. They left
too many loose ends. Also thought killing off Jadzia at the end
of the sixth season with only one more to go was nutz but I found
I like Ezrie.
Some of my
favorite Shows:
Star
Trek--"The Trouble With Tribbles" My all-time favorite.
Star Trek: The
Next Generation--"Inner Light" My all-time favorite
Next Generation.
Star Trek: Deep
Space Nine--"Trials and Tribble-ations" Naturally,
another Tribble story.
Star
Trek: Voyager--"Course Oblivion" Liked it because Tom
and B'Lanna got married, didn't like it that everyone died,
because they were replicas from the Demon planet.
My favorite
Star Trek Movies:
Star Trek
III--"The Search for Spock"
Star Trek
VI--"The Undiscovered Country"
Star Trek
IX--"Insurrection"
