Brief History
Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959) is one of the most well known architects of all
time. How appropriate that one of the greatest architects is responsible for
creating arguably the greatest piece of Modern Architecture ever constructed.
Fallingwater re-established Frank Lloyd Wright as one of the best creative minds
in the field of architecture after several years of negative criticism. Built
for Edgar Kauffman, Fallingwater was a daring move by Wright to design a building
in a ravine situated at the shore of Bear Run, Pennsylvania. The long, horizontal,
cantilevered terraces create the illusion of almost floating in space with no visible
supports. Even though Fallingwater has been reinforced and repared over the years,
it has no experienced structural failure as many of the engineers had predicted
when examining Wright's plans for Fallingwater. It has stood the test of time and
remains the greatest and most famous example of Modern Architecture the world has
ever seen...
