You are obviously curious  to what exactly a DANIELite is.. or you wouldn't be here... right?

A "DANIELite" is a word I have invented to describe 'me' and others like me.

Fans of the character -

Dr Daniel Jackson.

and

The series version - Michael Shanks sg380001a.jpg (4681 bytes)

We are not necessarily fans of the actors Michael Shanks or  James Spader but we do find the character that they portrayed to be interesting, stimulating, appealing or just down right sexy... it depends on the individual DANIELite ....

I have found in the past (when I invented the term "QUINNsters" for the Sliders character Quinn)  that many men were fans of the character but not of the actual actor  and this gave them a 'name' - if you will - and it formed a rather nice union amongst us in chats etc.

I'm hoping to create the same thing amongst STARGATE fans. I'm not one for idol star worship anyway...and I know nothing of the actual man, Michael Shanks, so I cannot really form an opinion on him on a personal basis.

However, I am learning about Daniel each week and find that he is such an intriguing character.

I love the fact that Daniel knows so much about Ancient Egypt and that he knows so many languages.  That's interesting.   It also makes him a strong character, often being the brains with the rest of the SG-1 team being the brawn/back up.

I love the fact that he's on this 'forever quest' to find and free Sha'uri, his wife, from the evil clutches of Apophis and the Goa'uld that she possesses.

I love the fact that he was clumsy and not "all together" in the movie (yes.. Danielites are usually not partial to either actor playing the part either - I really liked the Daniel of the movie).  His naivety and his wonderment of the STARGATE was lovely too (remember the first time he went through it? That look on his face).

His interest and care in his fellow SG-1 team members is great too. He's providing the 'everyman' angle.  He's not military so a lot of what happens needs to be explained to him ( and inturn, to us).

Although he is not really a pacifist he will try to talk his way out of a bad situation before allowing the others to resort to violence. He will resort to shooting on the enemy if it threatens the life of himself, his wife or his fellow SG-1 Team mates.

He's intellegent and witty, and he seems to have his own agenda.. which is kinda nice.  He'd almost be willing to give up his life for that *ultimate* find too.

He's a bit of a loner too.  You cant help but feel for him whenever he see's something to do with his wife.  It's nice that this is carried throughout the story and not just forgotten.  However he is realistic enough to know that life goes on while he searches.  He is not crippled by her capture, but intent on getting her back.  He also gets his fair share of love interest.. however he is usually possessed at the time.

He's a humanitarian, an optomist and a gentle person - someone I'd definately want in my lifeboat - that's for sure!

and okay.. he's cute (many thanks to Michael Shanks and James Spader for that btw!) and easy on the eye, without being overly sexual or macho (and no gratuitous body shots - thankfully!).

I guess, for me, there's something quite appealing about men in little round glasses, with long floppy hair, brilliant blue eyes and five o'clock shadows around a small pouty mouth *sigh*...   not to mention the fact that he is intellegent!  Oh, and then there's that softly spoken voice.. and that little frown he gets when he's concerned about his friends....... hahaha - you get the idea...

Basically..  it all adds up to one heck of a guy..... don't you think?

Want to EMAIL me about this?  Sure...slida@stargate.zzn.com

So? Are you a DANIELite, too?

-  If you are and you would like to have one of my emblems on your site, feel free to just save one of the images below and put it on your site.  Would you be so good as to link that to this page then? So that people can follow that link back to here and learn about DANIELites too..

- Do you want to join in with other crazy fans of the character Dr. Daniel Jackson?  If so, join the DANIELites Mailing List.. I can guarantee that you will be most welcomed, handed a Daniel Clone on entry (yours to do with what you want...!!! ) and be surrounded by some of the nuttiest people on the internet!!  BEWARE... this list only has 50 or so members but we ARE very talkative and you could end up with about 40- 60 emails per day...  you might need to know that before deciding on regular or digest version...

WE DO discuss Daniel... every now and then LOL  but one thing I do ask you to refrain from doing.. and that's discussing Michael Shanks.. (or James Spader).. as THEY are not Daniel... but actors playing him - who have real lives etc... We don't like to encroach on that.. (besides... neither of them are as *cute* as Danny Boy !! <{8^D)
