How to install these screens on your Windows 95 system | |
1 | Download the desired picture from this page. To do this, rightclick the Download link below the appropriate thumbnail. In the shortcut menu opened by this action, select Save Link As.... Note Write down the name of the directory to which you save the picture. You'll need to find the picture later. |
2 |
Search the file you want to replace on your system:
|
3 | Rename the file by changing the extension from SYS to OLD. |
4 | Copy the Bitmap picture you just have downloaded (See point 1) to the directory in which you found the original file (C:\ or C:\WINDOWS\, see point 2). |
5 | Rename the bitmap picture to the appropriate .SYS name. For example, if you're about to replace the startup screen, rename the picture file to LOGO.SYS. A shutdown screen is always named LOGOW.SYS. As you are changing the extension of the file name from BMP to SYS, windows will show a warning message. This message is absolutely nonsense and should be ignored. |
