Robotech, in its entirety, has some of the best mecha I've ever seen. They are not only mechanically possible, but they also are historically accurate. What!? you may say. Well, the Skull Squadron in Robotech consists of Veritechs modeled after the F-14 Tomcat. These days, there are also Skulls. They are a squadron of F-14s that are aboard the USS Enterprise of the US Navy.
For those of you who don't know, the Stinger was a type of mecha used by the Zentraedi to distribute a disease that only Zentraedi were immune to. This has been a much disputed issue, but, as always, the books shed valuable light on the subject. The Stinger was a Female Powered Armor, modified with the weapons of an RDF Spartan, that could be piloted by a Micronized Zentraedi. This is mentioned in the book, The Zentraedi Rebellion.
