ALBERT PYUN
Albert Pyun is one of today's most underrated directors in the action genre. Though some of his films may not hit the mark every time, what director can say he hits the target consistently. Even the masters have fell from time to time. John Carpenter (In the Mouth Of Madness, Village Of The Damned), Wes Craven (Deadly Blessing, Hills Have Eyes 2), David Cronenberg (Crash), John Woo (Broken Arrow- yes, it was good. But it wasn't Woo.), George Romero (Two Evil Eyes); the list goes on and on. Now, back to Pyun. The point I'm getting at is that, no matter how many misses, Pyun has consistently made films with style; though lacking substance. He does a wonderful job at what I like to refer to as "comic book reality", producing bigger than life heroes and powerful villains. His storytelling is kenetic. His characters good looking. His action first rate. He combines traditional american filmmaking with that of Hong Kong Cinema, then adding his own flair for dialogue. It is pure over the top cinema. You're not meant to take it seriously. You sit and take it all in, like a kid at a saturday matinee.
Though this page is dedicated to mostly "big" action movies, I think its important to look at the other fillmmakers out there, Albert Pyun being one of them. I'll be expanding this tribute, providing info on his career so far, and future projects. So, please, keep accessing. Click below for more on Albert Pyun.
