SERRAted Edge
This series is technically about a group of elves (yes, elves) living in the US (yes, America). The thing about these elves is that they go around in pseudo-race cars trying to save any abused kid they come across. Noble cause. But in order to actually ensure that these kids actually manage to stay unabused, the good elves need to have a constant source of cash. Gold coins simply won’t work these modern days. Too many questions. So the elves have to find a cover-up. After all, counterfeit gold is much the same as counterfeit $50 notes. But, good elves have morals. They don’t want the mortal kids to be accused of counterfeiting money. So they need jobs. Unheard of before, but times are different now.
So the elves take up racing.
You got that right—racing. The elves needed something exciting to do. Something that endangered their lives. They are bored. Racing was as exciting as the challenges they issued mortals before. Besides, it brought in money!
So now the good elves set up a racing company (Fairgrove Industries and SERRA racing club), hired human racers and mages, and set up shop!
So what about the bad elves? Well, like the good elves, they needed money for their operations to turn people to their slaves too. So instead of bothering too much about the irritating laws that we humans have, they set up shop as a snuff ring, dabbling in films featuring kiddie porn, S & M, and B & D. Not only can they feed their inhuman minions with the fear of the people they torture, but also gain cash from mortals who pay for their tapes and drugs.
So here we have the warring factions of elves again. Unseleighe (bad elves) vs. Seleighe. Almost like in O’Carolan’s "Sí Bheag, Sí Mhór".
The story is about this group of good elves, their aid of the mortal kids, and their fight against the Unseleighe. Pretty typical, but hey, they’re a good read!
I can’t quote anything from the books though. There’s a notice in the book cover warning against that. So…
