More has to be done than just making people "aware" of the horrific deeds committed against innocent animals. More has to be done to FORCE the justice system to change. My first idea is that animal groups in ALL areas of the nation come together before election time. Sheriffs get elected, judges get elected, congresspeople get elected. Let's ALL FORCE THE ISSUE! Let's DEMAND changes or, simple, you don't get elected. WE WILL VOTE ONLY FOR THOSE PEOPLE WHO PROMISE AND WORK FOR POSITIVE CHANGE. Change in TOTAL PROSECUTION. Change for STIFFER SENTENCES. And if they don't fulfill their promises, they don't get re-elected. There must be millions of us. Surely we can find our voice and be united in this. I am one person, won't someone join me in figuring out how we can do this? Email me and maybe we can get the national organizations as well as local organizations interested. I'm going to start calling my groups tomorrow! Do the same!
The second thought that comes to my mind is legal action taken by animal groups against the abusers. There must be lawyers who would file lawsuits against these abusers AND THEIR FAMILIES. For mental suffering, whatever, that the animal rescue workers endured because of these actions. Sue them for everything they have, their homes, cars, property, everything, in the millions. Sure, it might take some time to win a case, but at the least, they'll have to pay legal fees. Here in New Mexico, if a juvenile commits a crime involving loss of property, the parents have to pay for it. Let's get the fiends in court and let their parents spend their hard-earned money. A settlement could be psychiatric testing and therapy for their monster spawn. Who knows, we might be saving someone's life - either a future victim or the perpetrator.
We have to get tough on these barbaric degenerates. At this moment, I could personally set THEM on fire! And I know the world would be better off without them.
We ate no flesh in Eden, but afterwards, when things got hard, we forgot the peaceful kinship of that ancient kingdom. As our teeth sank into their flesh we had to deny them, So we said they had no souls, no reason, no thumbs, no speech. We were so different. We made a chain of things to protect us -- fire, medicine, our locking houses, many kinds of clothes. And we renamed them -- farm product, fur crop, renewable resource. Pray that we will see their faces again in the mirror of creation, the miracle of animals, their clear eyes meaning more than profit to our own. ---Jean Pearson---
Rainbow Bridge Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they each miss someone very special, someone who was left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; his eager body begins to quiver. Suddenly, he breaks from the group, flying over the green grass, faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into those trusting eyes, so long gone from your life, but never absent from your heart. Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together... *Author Unknown*

"Just because some of us can read and write and do a little math, that doesn't mean we deserve to conquer the universe." Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.
SOME GOOD NEWS! In California, there is a bill pending, that will require psychiatric assessment of anyone convicted of animal abuse. The research clearly shows a connection between animal abuse and horrific crimes committed later in life - like mass murder or serial murder. Of course, those of us involved in animal rescue have known for a long time that animal abusers are very dangerous humans.
This candle is a tribute to the innocent lives taken in the Noah's Ark Animal Shelter Massacre. This candle will always burn in their memory. The candle was created by Nancy Pilotte. Nancy's Home Page. It is also a tribute to any innocent animal that has lost its life because of some monster's brutality.
"Come quick, come quick", their mother said "The time is getting near" She feels that when the kittens come the children should be here. She told them that a big orange Tom took "Kitty" as his wife "It's wonderful, a gift from God, the miracle of life" At half a year young "Kitty" feels too painful and too scared to appreciate six miracles, blind-eyed and yellow haired. But she knows these lives depend on her and nature tells her how and as she cleans them, children ask "Mom, can we go now?" But now and then for six more weeks the children visit her to play with six new magic toys made of life and fur. The six weeks pass, the newness gone and new homes yet unfound, Mom bundles up six miracles and takes them to the pound, Where lovingly, with gentle hands and no tears left to cry, the shelter workers kiss them once and take them off to die. And "Momma Kitty" now shes called mourns her loss and then, she's put outside, and of course, she's pregnant once again. Dad tells "Kitty" STOP THIS NOW or you wont live here long! but deep inside of Momma Cat, this time something's wrong. Too young, too small, too often bred now nature's gone awry, Momma Kitty feels it too and she crawls off to die. She too is freed from this cruel world, and from her time of strife. How harsh the truth, how high the price this "Miracle of Life"?

Please don't add to the tremendous overpopulation problem!
If you are thinking of getting a cat, please consider adopting from your local Humane Society or SPCA or a pet rescue group.

What is man without the beasts? If all the beast were gone, men would die from a great loneliness of spirit. For whatever happens to the beasts, soon happens to man. All things are connected. Chief Seattle, Suquamish Indian Tribe
