Some Spooky Books

1. White Horses by Alice Hoffman-this book is very detailed and so unlike anything I've ever read. Just read it! Also anything else by Alice Hoffman is quite good.
2. Big Trouble by Dave Barry-this book is hilarious. I lived near Miami for most of my life and everything in this book could actually happen!
3. Anything that Piers Anthony wrote, especially the Xanth novels-these are all great books. Trust me.
4. Blood and Chocolate by Annette Curtis Klause-it's hard enough being a teenager but a werewolf, too? A sad story but very well told.
5. Kiss of the Bees by J.A. Jance-this book has strong Indian references and is a beautifully told story of murder and family.
6. Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom-the true story of a former student and his favorite professor, whom he watches die slowly to Lou Gehrig's disease. An inspirational story told very well. Will make you think.
7. The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky-a beautiful story composed of the letters Charlie writes to an unknown person about growing up and the pressures he's had to face. Sad, but so honest it will bring tears to your eyes.
8. Any of the Alex Delaware novels by Jonathan Kellerman-great mystery novels with plenty of psychology. I loved every one!
9. The Traveling Vampire Show by Richard Laymon-truthfully, this story doesn't make a lot of sense until you get into it. Three friends want to sneak into a vampire show.....and things just keep getting stranger. Any other Richard Laymon books are also good if you like this one.
10. Anything by Poe-because yes, he was crazy but he was still a genius.
11. Any of the Garfield books by Jim Davis because they are just the thing for a laugh.
12. Any of the Cathy books by Cathy Guisewite-they look at the truths of being a woman in a humerous way.
13. Any of the Anita Blake novels by Laurell K. Hamilton-follow a vampire executioner/necromancer as she battles the forces of evil. Lots of sexy moments and humor.
14. American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis-definitely read the book before seeing the movie. It's kind of graphic, though, so don't read it while eating.
15. Still Life by Bruce Elliot-a psychological thriller about a killer who sets out to make death a masterpiece. The ending was quite creepy.
16. Sloppy Firsts by Megan McCafferty-follow high schooler Jessica Darling as she copes with the relocation of her best friend, a posing novelist, the normal high school groups, track, love, and her family. This book is really awesome. Definitely read Second Helpings if you read this one. You'll laugh, you'll smile, you'll cry, and you may even get a bit of perspective.
