The Forbidden Game:
Runes and North Mythologies

Although those that have read "The Forbidden Game" are familiar with only seven of the runes (Dagaz, Thurisaz, Gebo, Isa, Kenaz, Raidho, and Uruz). In reality, there are twenty-five runes and they also represent the alphabet so that people could write to each other.

Interesting item about the runes: If you translate the first six runes you get the word futhark, which is an equivilant word to 'rune'. The Scandinavians used this alphabet system (the runes), reducing the entire thing to sixteen runes but then the Anglo-Saxen brought it back up to thirty-two runes. Probably the most popular and widely used set is the one that we are dealing with here, the twenty-five that were mainly used by the Vikings.
