Square, or Squaresoft, is the greatest gaming company...especially for RPGs, or Role Playing Games. Of course, you probably already knew all that, otherwise, what are you doing here?!?!
Square has made such classics as the Final Fantasy games and Chrono Trigger. Now Square is expanding it's gaming horizons to making more then just RPGs (although that's plenty). Bushido Blade, for example, is a Square made hyper-fighting game.
As I stated on my main page, Parasite Eve is out, Xenogears will be soon, and Final Fantasy VIII is a bit off. Woo-hoo!!! Final Fantasy VIII looks incredible! Click here for a stunning screenshot of the game. Wow!
This is a passage quoted from Playstation Magazine: "In a recent press conference held in Japan, the president of Square, Tomoyuki Takechi, finally revealed the first details of the latest chapter in the epic Final Fantasy RPG series. There wasn't a whole lot of official information released concerning the games story, but we can report that according to character designer Tetsya Nomura, 'it involves many elements, but the theme of the game is love.' A very vague summary, indeed, but we can also add that the game revolves in a large part around two male characters, Squall Lionhart and a soldier-turned-journalist named Laguna Laire. The two characters supposedly reside on different worlds, and their paths will cross at some point in the game. Often at the aesthetic forefront of RPGs, Square hopes to tell FFVIII's story in a more graphically effective way then in previous chapters. This will be partly achieved by rendering characters in a most realistic fashion (as opposed to the 'super-deformed' look that gave them disproportionate bodies) in addition to adding detailed texture maps to them. It was also mentioned that all the characters in a party will finally visible while walking around towns, a first for the series...The rendered full-motion intro that was played at the presentation showed incredible promise. First, a parabola antenna appeared onscreen wich was then replaced by a shot of the sky. About half a dozen fighter jets flew in formation and created a vapor trail with moon-like stars visible in the background, finally followed by a FFVIII logo. Next, the sequence then cut to a fleet of huge ships in a vast sea. Among the fleet, standing on one of the decks looking at a map was one of the game's main charcater's, Squall Leonhart. Following this was a myriad of images that include a flashback from his past of being chased by an armed vehicle in the desert. Various battle scenes from the game were then flashed quickly, with the ending dramatically marked by the FFVIII logo." Sweet!
