In here, I have included a short but always expanding biography of one of my favourite authors: John Ronald Reue Tolkien.
Tolkien in brief:
John Ronald Reuel Tolkien was born in Bloemfontain, Orange Free State in South Africa. His father, Arthur Tolkien, moved he and his wife to the desert/jungle climate when he found employment at a bank there.
When his father died of rheumatic fever, Tolkien's mother, Mabel, moved her and her two sons (he and his younger brother Hilary) back to England, where they stayed with her until her death in 1904.
The two young boys, parentless and homeless, were sent to Fr. Francis Morgan of the Birmingham Oratory, by whom they were from thence raised.
Tolkien studied at King Edward's School, learning Classics, Anglo-Saxon, and Middle English. After learning Welsh and Finnish, he began his first toils and expermients with his 'Elven' languages.
(Tolkien, later, married a woman by the name of Edith and they had 4 children.)
'The Hobbit' or There and Back Again was originally written for one of his children, and became a large hit when published. He was asked to write a sequel and was QUITE suprised when the book Lord Of the Rings became a beloved book, and 'underground' classic.
