DESCRIPTION:April's skin is so pale white it's see-thru. Her hair is white, and her eyes are pale blue. These are actually contact lenses to conceal the fact her eyes are actually pink. She tends to dress in skirts and light, plain shirts. She wears army boots (for their durability), and almost constantly applies sunblock to herself (she's extremely vulnerable to sunburn). She carries a backpack and a guitar case.
EQUIPMENT:
Guitar Case: 1 good quality guitar, spare strings, repair kit, small knife, sheets of music paper in a waterproof folder, a pencil and a pen.
Backpack: Extra sunglasses, 2 extra skirts, 2 extra shirts, 4 pairs of socks, a spool of butchers twine, boot polish (triple bagged), a small first aid kit, some lucky charms (not the cereal), a medicine bag and a small book of Gaian prayers.
HISTORY:
April Touches-the-Lore was born to Living-for-the-Stars, a Black Fury Homid Theurge. Living-for-the-Stars was an older, well respected member of the Sept of Deepest Light, a Sept made up of Wendigo, Black Furies and Children of Gaia. She had been training two of the Sept's cubs in astrology one night when a small pack from a rival caern happened upon them. The trio was far outside the bawn, so Living-for-the-Stars told the cubs to run for help as she held off the intruders.
The rival pack, Blightslayer, tried to catch the cubs as they fled, but Living-for-the-Stars called spirits to her aid, and the Blightslayer Pack was forced to combat only Living-for-the-Stars. Though she wasn't a warrior, Living-for-the-Stars managed to overcome most of the pack with the aid of several spirit friends. Finally, only the pack alpha Hiram Breaks-the-Foe, a Homid Silver Fang Ahroun and his beta, Chases-After-Battle, a Lupus Silver Fang Ragabash were still standing. Chases lunged at Living-for-the-Stars, and was promptly tackled by a fairly strong puma spirit. Hiram took her momentary distraction to attack. The pair battled fiercely, but finally Hiram prevailed, throwing the theurge to the ground and falling on top of her. As a final show of dominance, Hiram raped Living-for-the-Stars, then gathered up his pack and left through the Umbra.
Living-for-the-Stars was brought back to the caern by her two students as several of the sept's Ahrouns howled for vengeance, tearing around the area for the rest of the night in search of her violators. Inside of the caern, Living-for-the-Stars was given the best healing treatments the other Garou could muster, as well as a purification rite. A few weeks later, Living-for-the-Stars discovered that she was pregnant.
After April was born, several messages went back and forth between the septs. It soon became clear that Hiram was not going to be held responsible within his own sept, and that the entire incident was going to be ignored by them. If it hadn't been for the counsel of some of the wiser (some say trickier) Children of Gaia, the septs would have gone to war right then. Instead, the rage of the Furies was muted for the time being, and April was welcomed (as much as a metis can be).
Her childhood was a rough one, as every up-and-coming cub who hadn't had his or her first change yet felt it was necessary to regularily challenge the resident metis. The cubs frequently won, mostly due to the fact that they ganged up on the unfortunate metis. Finally, Living-for-the-Stars got sick and tired of the children's bullying and called upon Pegasus to send a companion for her daughter. In short order, a fox-spirit arrived. April dubbed it Quickfoot. Forever after that, the pair were constant companions. Quickfoot frequently manifested in the physical world as a kind of guard dog, though he did occasionally show up just to steal things and leave them as gifts for April, usually concealed in a pocket.
As April grew up, she was frequently regaled with stories of Garou history, specifically Black Fury history. She was taught to play the guitar by Michael "Giver" Terrance, one of the Child of Gaia kinfolk. She learned wolfspeak from Throws-Them-High and Great-Fist, twin Wendigo Ahrouns. Her mother taught her about the stars (with Quickfoot's help).
Finally, the "big day" came. It was 2 AM on the date of April's tenth birthday when almost the entire Sept was awakened by a shriek of joy. Lupus emerged from their dens, and homids rolled out of bed, only to be confronted by the image of April, nearly nude, rolling on the grass in the middle of the Sept's gathering area, laughing. She was in homid form, and it was pretty obvious she was enjoying it. Lives-for-the-Stars finally retrieved her daughter half an hour later.
A week went by, and April was permitted to join a small group of kin and her mother on a trip into town. She fairly shook with excitement as she got into the van. The trip was without incident until they left the town. A mile from the caern, the vehicle blew a tire. Everyone got out, and April began to play in the ditch with Quickfoot while the kin and Lives-for-the-Stars changed the tire.
Just as they pulled the tire off, a passing motorist stopped. As he got out of the car, April heard the clank of the tire iron hitting the ground, then an enraged shriek. Almost immediately, someone tumbled into the ditch alongside her. It was Adrienne Terrance, Michael's younger sister. She grabbed April by the arm and started running away from the car. April could hear others running behind her, but didn't understand why.
Adrienne finally led April back to the Sept. Overwhelmed and confused, April was set in a corner to be dealt with later. She didn't understand in the least why so many of the sept members immediately took off. When the packs finally returned bearing Lives-for-the-Stars' body, it became a whole lot clearer to her.
Despite the insistence of the other Galliards, April composed her mother's dirge herself. When the Gathering for the Departed was over, not one member of the Sept wasn't filled with sorrow and righteous Rage. The Furies of the Sept debated for hours afterwards, and finally decided that April's efforts would not go unrewarded. She was given her Rite of Passage that night.
April is much older now (looks about 18, is technically 13). She thinks of her mother every night as she falls asleep, and is striving to serve her tribe in the best way she can: aiding women and hunting down her father. She is currently "on the road", searching for him.
