THE YEAR IN REVIEW: CHIMLEVTAL 2000

Polar Bear, the Elven Druidess and manager of Stormwatch, stood on a balcony that faced east in the fortified guildhouse of The Stormguards. She was flanked by Ciaran Ap Gruffydd and the minotaur Kaz, of that guild. Her thoughts were on many events. Foremost was the invasion from the east and the battles that raged outside glorious Chimlevtal itself. She had led TheCouncil of Lords and all their Lord Protectors and gladiators in aiding thecity in its defense. Even now, Palladice, Captain of team Stormwatch wasoutside the walls.

She thought of The Icelord and High Lord Bosk. They battled in the east of behalf of Lady Greywand and all of Alastari. With the state of this planet's Arcanum in disorder, messages from them had slowed toa trickle. Even her druidic powers were in a flux. Then she felt magic.

The sun was just setting as she saw the flutter of wings. "The Icelord sends word." her magical voice stated. Kaz held out his arm and a screech owl landed silently upon his massive forearm. "Tell me your message, noble one." cooed Polar Bear as she took the small predator from the giant minotaur. The owl launched into a series of clicks, chirps and squawks. Ciaran and Kaz looked at each other and then to the east.

Thirty minutes later, Braglane Bluethumb, chief scribe of The Council of Lords stood before Polar Bear and the assembled warriors of TheStormguards, Stormwatch and The Stormbringers. "Your orders m'lady?"

Polar Bear observed all before her. "The Icelord and Lord Boskbattle in the east. It is no easy quest they have taken upon and the outcome is not certain. As usual, they feel confident they will overcome all odds and win the battle. I can contact them if needed. If Chimlevtal is threatened with capture, they will..." "We won't allow it!" growled Kaz. All the warriors nodded and grunted their agreement.

Polar Bear smiled and continued. "Well then, never mind. They also command that the war with the honorless Vendetta Cartel continue. Our enemies may paint a picture that they are blameless but we know the truth."Kaz kicked a chair, splintering it instantly. "We will make peace with the dogs when Firehawk kneels and kisses our war boots and then apologizes for his and his alliances actions!" Zaius laughed "But I need to slay a few more of his underlings!"

Again Polar Bear smiled. "Indeed Zaius, that is why you are The Nighthawk Slayer. Mr. Darque states he wants to cease the verbal war but until he reigns in his minions, it won't happen." All nodded.

"I am to contact Lady Greywand and let her know what transpires in the east." She looked at the scribe. "Braglane, The Icelord states that TheYear In Review will be published. It is a long tradition and must continue.When one win honors in Chimlevtal, most glorious of all arenas, one hastruly accomplished great things. Make your report."
