The Paladins' Armoury



he paladins are trained to be heavily armored fighters. They rely upon the strength of their armour and the quality of their weapons to be victorious in battle. Having the strength of a fighter and riding horses that can carry impressive weights, they come into battle protected by steel and chainmail almost from head to toe. Most of the equipment used in battle can be easily acquired in the guild or castle armoury. Cheap and unavailable to non-paladins, almost every piece of armour found in that shop is the best available in the realms for its type.


he following is a list of those armour pieces and weapons. You can take a peek at them, their price, their save levels,their type and, most importantly, other equivalent pieces that may be better at protecting you in combat. My choices of alternatives for the standard paladin armour derive from judging them against the guild ones, whenever that was possible, using the maxed judge of fighters. Things though are always changing in the realms we live in. So some of my suggestions may be truly helpful, some may not. word of Justice
Price : 2 platinum coins
Save Level : 15
Type : Sharp weapon
This is a weapon crafted for the forces of Severan. It looks like a simple weapon, but it is more than durable for a new paladin recruit. This is the perfect weapon to use until you have become skilled enough to use your Holy Avenger.
Alternative : Max all three levels of attack on your Avenger as soon as possible. Once you have what we call a "8/8/8 Avenger", you wont need a Sword of Justice or any other sword but your Avenger anymore.

Type : Body armour
This beautiful white armour seems to glow with a holy power as you look at it. The armour is forged of a unknown white metal, and is so well crafted, that not even a needle can fit between the joints. The breastplate is etched with holy symbols of Severan that have been filled in with black steel.
Alternative : There are many body armours that are better than a Plate of Severan. That doesnt mean though that this plate isn't one of the best available. If you need something more powerful, use a Durannon,an Elven Plate or a Platemail of Faith

Durannon: Very heavy, but also the best armour currently available. It can be found in the Crag of Evil, on Raven's Island. To get it, you need to kill Wright. It is an undead creature that can also be turned if you dont like to fight much. Directions from the island docks: e, 3sw, 3se, 2e, 2n, w, nw, w, n, nw, 3ne, 3e, 3se, 3sw, up (watch out here, you might want to dismount from your horse before going up),sw,w,jump,kill wright. There are lots of creatures that will attack you on sight on this way, so it is suggest you proceed with caution. The Durannon saves at level 175 or so.
Elven Plate: This is the armour of Eluten guards so if you are a human paladin, you should ask for the assistance and blessing of an elf to be provided with one of those. Not as good as the Durannon. It saves at level 0
Platemail of Faith: This can be found in Treeth and saves at level 155 or so.


Apart from the Plate of Severan though, the female members of the paladin guild are privileged with equipment designed only for them. These are: a body armour known as the Contoured Breastplate that is to be worn by women only and the Mail Shirt that can only be worn over the breastplate.

ontoured Breastplate
Price : 1 platinum coin
Save Level : Unknown
Type : body armour
This exquisite plate is contoured to fit snugly against the curves of the female body. Leather harnass straps secure it in the back, and there are hooks along the top that attach the breastplate to your chainmail. The metal is extra thick in the center, to help repel an attack to the heart.
Alternative : See the plate of Severan.

ail Shirt
Price : 1 platinum coin
Save Level : Unknown
Type : addition to the contoured breastplate.
This beautiful mail shirt has been made from spun ropes of golden wire reinforced with a core of finely crafted steel. In front it covers the shoulders and neck, reaching down halfway to hook up with a contoured breastplate. In back, it reaches down almost to the knees. The shoulders are doubly reinforced for extra protection. It shimmers in the light.
Alternative : None.

vory Chainmail
Price : 1 platinum coin
Save Level : 0
Type : Body armour
This wonderfully crafted mail coat is deep, shimmering white. The rings very small and link to form a strong white mesh, that protects very well for its weight. The coat is knee length, and the shoulders have a double layer of mail.
This is the standard armour of the newly recruited paladin before reaching level 50 when one can save the Plate of Severan.

vory Vambraces
Price : 1 platinum and 3 copper coins
Save Level : 15
Type : misc
These metal forearm plates are forged out of a near glowing white metal. They are near weightless, and engraved with blackened runes. They strap tightly to the forearms, and reach back to protect the elbows.
Alternative : Blue Surcoat, Pirate's Hoop.

lue Surcoat with a Black Cross
Price : 4 silver coins
Save Level : 0
Type : misc
This thick surcoat is made of sapphire blue wool, and it has a deep black Cross on the chest. The Cross proclaims service to Severan, for it is his symbol.
Alternative : Ivory Vambraces, Pirate's hoop.

latinum Signet Ring
Price : 2 gold coins
Save Level : 10
Type : ring
This is a signet ring of the Paladins Guild. It is made of pure platinum and shines very brightly. The band is covered in runes that have been filled in with black. The ring is set with a blue sapphire. Inside the sapphire, glowing softly is the symbol of Severan. Alternative : The ring of armour, the ring of abjuration and the opal ring (gives +1 dex).

Ring of armour: This can be found on the Hulk in the Mithris tunnels.(saves at level 50)
Ring of abjuration: This can only be bought in Sreen, so you will have to ask a drow to bring you one.(saves at level 65)
Opal ring: This can be found on the Crag of Evil, the same area with the Durannon. Using the same directions just type climb instead of jump. East from the room you reach if you climb successfully there is a path that will lead you to a vampire that holds the opal ring. This ring is probably the best alternative to the signet ring since it gives a +1 dexterity bonus to the wearer


hite Boots
Price : 4 gold coins
Save Level : 10
Type : boot
These pure white armoured boots encase the entire lower leg in armour. The shins and knees are heavily protected with think plates of metal. The greaves seem to give off a soft white glow, as if the power of Severan flowed through them. This is but a renamed version of the old leg greaves.
Alternative : None. It seems to be the best boot type armour available. Maybe the Liorinin boots are as good.

auntlets of Virtue
Price : 1 platinum, 1 gold and 4 silver coins
Save Level : 5
Type : glove
These beautiful plate gauntlets are forged of the same white metal as the Plate of Severan. They are so pure white, that they seem to glow with the power of Severan. The fit of them is marvelous also, since the gauntlets seem to meld themselves specifically to your hand. Use the command 'feel' to harness their power.
By 'feeling' a target with them on, the gauntlets will help you detect its alignment. If the target is evil, they will create a slight pain in the back of your head. The more intense the pain is, the more evil the target will be. If you feel nothing, it simply means that the target is good aligned or neutral.
Alternative : None. This seems to be the best glove available. Besides, the feel command it grants to the paladin is invaluable for the newly recruited.

loak of Law
Price : 3 gold coins
Save Level : 5
Type : cloak
This beautiful white cloak is woven of sturdy wool. The edges of the cloak are trimmed in deep blue, and it ties around the neck a gold medallion. The cloak is very light, yet strong, and very protective.
Alternative : There are two cloaks better than this one. The Xorlarrin cloak and the Swan cloak.

Xorlarrin cloak: This can be found only in the Black Market. For more about getting there, see the quests page. It seems to be slightly better that the swan cloak apart from protection against magic attacks.
Swan cloak: This cloak is not as good as the previous one, but its overall high durability and its considerable protection against magic attacks makes it a very popular piece of armour. It can be acquired only by doing a quest. See the quest page for more. It saves at level 130.


hite Heaume
Price : 1 platinum, 1 gold and 5 silver coins Save Level : 5
Type : helmet
This pure white helmet is straps on firmly to the neck, and encompasses the entire head. The front of the heaume has a thin slit for vision, and several holes to allow air flow. The helmet is well padded on the inside to protect against hard blows to the head.
Alternative : None. This is by far the best helmet available.

eraldric Shield
Price : 4 platinum coins Save Level : 0
Type : shield
This is a huge white metal shield, with a holy glow eminating from it. Useful for those who want to use it with an one handed avenger and no second weapon, thus receiving a small bonus in parrying attacks.
Alternative : If you use one weapon and a shield. There is no match to the heraldic one. If you want to use two weapons though, or a two handed avenger, you can wear the bracers of defense as a shield type of armour. Those can be acquired only in the black market. See the quest page for more.

oly Symbol
Price : 4 gold coins.
Save Level : 0
Type : spell component for the turn command and the crusade spell.
This is a Priest's Holy Symbol, used for turning undead creatures. It is a small, round, tablet that has the Articles of Faith of the guild etched into it. You can feel the holy power flowing through this symbol.



For those who dont feel completely safe without a long list of equipment on them though, there is a variety of other armour types that can help them add some extra protection on their shoulders.Some examples are:

Robes:
The Garlandii cape: Very good protection against magic attacks. It can be bought at the city of Treeth. It saves at level 15
The Ecclesiastical robe: Almost as good as the Garlandii cape though it saves at level 75.
The Black Kalat: This can be found on NPCs in the encampment.

Greaves:
Black Greaves: Those can be found on a demon called Galdegon, in the labrynth of the Raven's island. This is an undead creature and the greaves seem to be the best in their type.
Stone Greaves: These can bought on the armour shop in Kildareh on the same island. They save at pretty low level.

Belts
Sinqvar Belt: This is probably the best belt type of armour available. It can be found in the labrynth, on Djini.
Iron girdle: This can be bought in the armour shop of Kildareh, Raven's island.
Jewelled girdle: This can be bought in a shop in Rhone.
They all seem to save at pretty low level

Capes
Dark cape: This can be acquired in the labrynth.
Noble cape: This is worn by the noble NPC of Treeth, found around the se corner of the city.
They all seem to save at pretty low level

Necklaces
Emerald necklace: This can be bought from the jewelry shop in Pesvint and saves at level 25
Bone necklace: This can be found on NPCs in Ebwy.

Other pieces of armour
Scarlet sash: This can only be found in the pirate ship, so you will need to convince a pirate to give you one.
Black visor: This can be bought in the armoury shop of the city of Kildareh.
Silver headband: This can be bought in the city of Rhone
Nose ring: This can be bought in the city of Pesvint.
