Becoming a Witch is not something I set out
to do, it was a slow acknowledgement of a true calling. It started for me around the age of
thirteen, I felt at home and at peace in the wilderness (camping still is my
favorite outdoor activity), I felt Gaias presence.
Not knowing what to call that divine presence the search was on for
enlightenment. This search for
enlightenment was hampered by my (to this point) Christian upbringing. Enlightenment started with acknowledging
the fact that I was not Christian, fire and brimstone and “vengeance is mine”
did not seem the way of a loving and benign god. Self education was the starting point, I
read any book I could get a hold of on
different religions from holy books (yes I
even read a translated Koran) to books by practitioners. What made everything click into place for
me was a book by Vivian Crowley “The Solitary Witch.” Now I knew, now the challenge was to live
by the ideals of “Do no harm.”
Today I practice a form of Wiccanism that is blended with Wotanic
beliefs, but as the saying goes “that is another story.” Magic, Runes, unique friends, supportive
family, energetic daughters, enjoyable work and good food make up my days now
as with Mother (Gaia) and other gods in my heart I am at peace. |
