the norn at home

so, you've come to learn about the norn, eh? beware: you may learn more than you wanted to! the norn's life has been, thus far, one of tragedy and farce, comedy and pathos, pain and redemption. well, in the books i read, anyway: outside books, it's a lot more mundane.

after spending 7 years living in toronto, i decided to relocate for my kids' sake. i now live in a really small town in northeastern ontario. this town consists of, basically, a bridge with a bar at one end and a liquor store at the other. there is a grand total of six buildings in the "downtown core" and three of them are owned by the same person, which means this person literally owns half the business district! population-wise, we're talking less than a TTC bus during the off-hours: the population was 649, but since then the lady across the road moved out and took her kids with her, a guy on the Verner highway died tragically and madame up the road died peacefully, 'Ti-Pierre was born, another family moved out, and so the population has changed a bit. now, it's around 630 people (we don't count the moose).

me, i was born in stockholm (sweden) and i look nuthin' like a 'typical' swede. i'll be 33 on december 22 (email me and say 'happy birthday', if you don't mind terribly much). to learn about my character, look up the sign of the 'fire horse' in the oriental zodiac -- it pretty much spells it out. i have a 'significant other' who likes to spend his time out in the shed building 'stuff', as does his younger son (who's very creative in an off-beat manner -- check out his creations in the photo gallery). i have two stunningly beautiful daughters, and Himself has two strikingly handsome sons. all our kids are well-mannered (but mine are better than his because they're girls and because they're mine!) and -- except for the older son -- cause no more trouble than any kid their age could be expected to. they're all wierd, and Himself and i stay up at nights working charms and spells to try and call all the errant brain cells back home.

we have good times together (the best, so far, was when i told the kids the joke about the really bad first date and we spent over an hour laughing like total idiots. we also have trials and tribulations to put up with and work through (nik's Tourette's Syndrome, my weight, caiti's "fuzzy logic", Himself's "neatnikness", my lackadaisical housekeeping, our bills and the loan, and so on), but we muddle along as best we can and, all in all, it's not that bad a life!

back to the cave entrance....
