Name: Christina
Nicknames: celeste_ (on IRC), some
people call me Chris, no.. you can not call me Tina, I've been called Steener,
Yakko, and even Dingy Spice.
Preferred Nickname: I don't mind Chris, as far as nicknames go.
:)
Where you can find me: If I'm actually on IRC, I'll be in EFnet's
#darkwave. Or ICQ, UIN#411932. Though most of the time I am at my computer, or else watching TV or playing video games in the living room (assuming I'm home).
Sex: Umm female. How many guys do you know named Christina? Well, I guess in Portland, you never know :)
Age: 23
Birthday: August 2nd. Yes, a Leo. Rowwr.
Hair: brown, shoulder length, straight
Eyes: blue, sometimes light, sometimes dark
Height: 5'7-ish
Weight: more than imaginable
Shoe Size: 10
Marital Status: presently in a relationship, but not married.
Where I live: SE Portland. (Oregon, not Maine)
Phone Number: If you actually thought I'd put that here, you're dumber than I gave you credit for.
What I like best about Portland: Well, it's not 112 degrees outside, and I actually like the clouds and rain, thank you. Also, people are considerably more open minded here than other places I have lived. Not nearly as rude or judging, there's a lot of diversity here. (You're never sure who you might be sitting next to on the bus.) Drivers are considerate, they actually follow the "do unto others" theme most of the time instead of breaking into a fit of road rage and running you off the road. There's also a lot to do here, a big music scene, and it's actually relatively clean. Yeah, I like it.
What I like least about Portland: No jobs!!! Damn the economy! Also downtown, although a fun and interesting area, can be quite overwhelming, especially when attempting to park.
Where I used to live: Phoenix, AZ (for about 2 years), and College Station, Texas (for 15 years--my school days), and San Diego (the first 5 years, a very long time ago)
What I do for a living: Funny you should ask that. Since I moved to Portland, I had a 1-week long awful temp job, did technical support for Hewlett-Packard for about 10 months, and had a job at an athletic goods/apparel/uniforms/equipment distributor doing data entry and ordering things and making a lot of phone calls. Then I got laid off. Yippee. So, now I'm looking again. (in other words, please give me money!!)
Where all my money really goes: it used to go to geeky stuff (star wars action figures, movies, cds, computer thingamabobs) but now its basically just food and bills. (see above)
What I do when I'm not at work: read, watch
tv, browse the internet, play computer games, chat on IRC and ICQ, listen to cds or mp3s, play video games (I have a Playstation 2, Nintendo 64, Playstation, and Sega Genesis), put my action figures in ridiculous
poses, play with my kitty, daydream, oh, and I like to cross-stich (I've been working on a big one for over a year now.)
Favorite TV shows: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, X-Files, Star Trek
(the Next Generation or Voyager), Friends, Great Chefs of the World, *cough*WWF*cough*, and almost anything on the Discovery channel (which is what I really watch the majority of the time).
Favorite Computer Game: What, there are other games besides Solitaire? I love games. Recently I have been addicted to The Sims, but I can't make my exspansion packs work with Windows 2000, so I've temporarily given up. I've also had fun with Black and White. I like first person shooters, but I really suck at them.
Favorite Playstation 2 game: Final Fantasy X... What a great game. The graphics are breathtaking and it's just fun all around.
Favorite Playstation game: Well Final Fantasy 7 of course. Duh. It's probably my favorite game I've ever played.
Favorite N64 game: Definately MarioKart64. It's only the most addictive game there ever was. I had way too much fun with Mario Tennis also.
Favorite Sega Genesis game: Phantasy Star 4. I love the whole Phantasy Star series, but the fourth one is way better than the second and third. I dunno if it's better than the first one though... we had an awful lot of fun playing it on my Sega Master System in 5th grade :)
Favorite Movies: ok, um the STAR WARS trilogy (shame on you if you didnt know that), Blade Runner, Top Gun, Spaceballs, Dune, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Stand By Me, Labyrinth, Fantasia, The Abyss, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, The Neverending Story, Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (which I have seen twice in the theaters so far and blew me away).
Favorite Book: The Last Unicorn,
by Peter S. Beagle. This is my favorite story of all time.
I tend to throw out quotes from this book almost as much as I do from Star
Wars. I've read it several hundred times probably and every time
it makes me laugh and cry in the same places. Definately the favorite by all means.
Other Books and Authors that I love:
Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card, the Earth's Children series by Jean Auel, Dandelion Wine
by Ray Bradbury, The Stars, My Destination by Alfred Bester, The
Firefly by Piers Anthony, What's Eating Gilbert Grape by Peter
Hedges (ten times better than the movie), some stuff by Anne Rice,
Michael Crichton, and John Grisham, and about anything from Frederik Pohl,
William Gibson, Arthur C. Clarke, Piers Anthony, and Robert A. Heinlen.
The music I listen to: My taste in
music is quite varied. My favorite bands i guess are Dave Matthews Band, R.E.M., and Smashing Pumpkins, but I like so much stuff now that it's hard to pick favorites. OK here's just a bunch of stuff I like, I know I'll forget some and these are in no particular order: Tori Amos, U2, Live, Pink Floyd, The Cure, Duran Duran, Journey, Queen, Led Zepplin, David Bowie, Sarah McLachlan, Patsy Cline, Elton John, Cyndi Lauper, The Moody Blues, They Might Be Giants, VNV Nation, Savage Garden, The Stone Roses, Fountains of Wayne, etc etc etc. I like tons of soundtracks too (lots o' Star Wars music, Dark City, Spawn, The Lion King, The Saint, etc), classical music, blues, jazz,
and in my cd collection you might find even more bizarre items like Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes, Digitally remastered science
fiction movie themes, and the Benedictine Monks of St. Michaels.
What am I listening to this very second?: Well as I was updating this I was listening to Happy Phantom by Tori Amos. (Woo-hoo... the time is getting closer!!)
Musical instruments I play: Well I
played clarinet all through school, and I still get it out and play occasionally.
I have a little keyboard that I play with sometimes too, but I've never
had lessons or really worked at it so I can only play a couple songs :) I would love to know how to play guitar and I tried to teach myself
once with a book but it just didnt work out. *grumble*
Favorite Song: that changes every 5 minutes! =)
Other Things I love: Star Wars action figures, sunflower seeds in the shell, chocolate ice cream,
Boba Fett, airplanes, dragons, glitter and anything glittery or sparkly,
purple! or purple and sparkly is even better!, black velvet, my kitty Valorie,
my grandparents and their not-so-little puppy Shadow, my friends (of course!), pretty much anything
having to do with outer space, people who aren't afraid to be themselves, sauteed mushrooms, hot comic book women, candles, incense, dragons, pretty rocks, and little neat thingies
which I have all over everywhere but dont need but couldnt live without.
What's on my walls: an original Empire Strikes Back: Special Edition movie poster, an outdated Episode One calendar, some Star Wars mini-posters from comic books, as well as a Boba Fett poster and a Han solo too, lots of pictures I ripped out of Astronomy magazine, some hot comic book chicks, a picture of my dad's bird, a patch that says "superhero", and some pink and blue christmas lights.
Whats on top of my stereo: A
Smashing Pumpkins boxed set, some candles, a nifty hat, my old tape collection,
and my feather boa named Lansbury.
Sheets: off-white flannel sheets with grape vines all over (thanks to Brad's mom at Christmas)
Stuffed Animal I Sleep With: Camy, a stuffed camel who used to be pinkish tinted but is now tan and was my best friend until I was about 8. I get horribly nervous if I can't find him at night (Ask Brad)
If I spontaneously became a lesbian I would run to: Gillian Anderson or Amber Benson (Tara on Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
Things I want to do before I die: travel all over the world, learn to fly, see the earth from outside its atmosphere
Funniest thing that ever happened to me:
Would probably be when I fell in the 'puddle' of water that went up to
my armpits when it was pouring rain on my way out to Tiffany's car after
school on Friday the 13th, and still managed to keep my backpack, purse,
and clarinet fairly dry. Actually there was all this grass floating
in it and it didnt look like a hole and so I just kept walking and sorta
stepped right into it. Of course we got into a minor car wreck about
5 minutes later and all in all I didnt get home till about 5:30 :)
Saddest thing that ever happened to me:
I got this adorable little puppy and I named him Spooky and he was the
sweetest little thing that I ever saw or touched in my whole life, and
he would curl up and sleep so warm on my stomach and he got sick and died
and I only had him for 8 days. That was quite a while ago but he
was so cute and sweet and I really loved him and I still miss him a lot.
Sweetest thing anyone ever said to me:
"I know it's stupid but sometimes I'll start thinking about where you are
and what you're doing at this very moment, and if you're ever wondering
what I'm doing at a moment. Sometimes I wish I could just suprise
you and show up on your doorstep and see the suprised look on your face,
and hug you in person for the first time. I miss you."
Favorite things to do with a best friend: be silly, go to Walmart
and buy action figures and cheap crackers, sit on the playground in the
middle of the night and talk about everything that means anything, play
video games until 5am, sit outside and watch the clouds/lightning/mountains/whatever
happens to be there.
Most coffee drank at once: I had 7
cups of coffee in about an hour with my friend Jason once. Then
we went back to my apt and played MarioKart until it was light outside,
and I'm not sure if I slept the next night either.
Funniest lines heard while playing MarioKart:
"Hey, get outta my way, Donkey-Schlong!", "Hey, look, we're bangin in the
corner! Wooooo!", "I'll ram your Toadie-butt from here to the moon!", "I
made it! I made the jump! I did it! I finally did it! Yes!!! Oh. I missed.", "I
think we play better when we're drunk, don't you?"
Best friends: Ginny, Tiffany, Brad, Chris (in random order)
Favorite Song to sing at the top of my
lungs while drunk and standing on the couch with my ex-roommate Tiffany: The
Lion Sleeps Tonight. (quite a mental picture, eh?)
Favorite kinds of soup: Broccoli Cheese, Baked Potato, and Clam Chowder
Best things to consume while watching
Star Wars: Smartfood White Cheddar Popcorn, ice cream, cherry
sours, fried ewok livers, Dr. Pepper, and pistachios.
Number of Star Wars action figures I have:
I have no idea. more than 130. I need to recount.
Favorite poses to put my action figures
in: You don't want to know what Hoth Rebel Soldier, Harley Quinn (so
she's from Batman, who cares?), and Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker used to do on top of my monitor.
Star Wars figure I paid the most for:
A ROTJ:SE Theater Release Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker that you could only
get from a movie theater if you were one of the first 50 people in line.
My friend's dad was the manager of a theater, so he got one, and I bought
it from him for $40. Course it's not worth as much as it originally thought.
First things I would grab if my house
was on fire: my box of sentimental stuff, the picture on my desk, some books, my computer, the stuffed camel, some star wars stuff, my telescope, my kitty cat, um, Brad. hehe.
Other Star Wars things I have: I have the original Star Wars soundtrack on record, and it still has the
fan club stuff in it and everything. No scratches either.
I have an ESB:SE official movie poster. It has a few little dings
and tears cause it was used a lot, but the point is, I HAVE it. A
very sweet man gave me a very old patch that says "Revenge of the Jedi"
on it from when they thought that would be the title of ROTJ. Then
there's my shrine of Boba Fett stuff, including a coffee mug, christmas
ornament, micro machines set, big Slave 1, the pez dispenser, and Boba Fett that spins around
on a little platform. I also have an Jawa-flinging Ronto. Utinni!
Favorite unheard of national pastime:
Ewok-flinging. It's great, try it.
Favorite character from Star Wars: Boba Fett! Best bounty hunter this side of what used to be Alderaan. And plus,
saying "Boba Fett? Where???" is really fun. Say it.
Yes, out loud. See? :)
Favorite good guy from Star Wars: Han
Solo, of course. *drool* Oh Harrison, if only you and I had a chance...
If I had unlimited money, I'd want:
A big house, lots of video games, a stereo for my car, all the Star Wars paraphenalia I could find,
a better computer, the Hubble Space Telescope, and an SR-71 parked
in the garage.
If I could drop one man off the face of
the Earth, it would be: Bill Gates. Not only does he deserve
it (no man should have that much money except the one I marry), but could
you imagine the amount of commotion that would make? "This is CNN
News, reporting on the 785th day of the world-wide search for multi-bazillionaire
Bill Gates. Sources say he was in the middle of demonstrating the
latest version of Windows, and when he clicked 'Empty Recycle Bin', he
simply vanished into thin air. Shortly after, there was a Blue Screen
of Death, but most people were more concerned over the astonishing disappearance
of Mr. Gates. Tomorrow begins the search in the Mariana Trench."
That would be too much fun. =)
Random thing I can't get enough of:
Purple candy. Doesnt even have to be really grape-flavored.
It just has that purple taste. Purple jellybeans have that neat twang
too. Basically if it's candy and it's purple, I want it. mmmmm
purple yummy goodness.
Other thing I can't get enough of: The Buffy the Vampire Slayer musical episode. I taped it so I can watch it all the time.
You know what's really cool:
When you and your best friend say the same thing all the time without knowing
you were going to do it, or when you're in different places singing the
same song.
Kind of person I hate: Selfish,
manipulative bitches who don't care about anyone's well-being except their
own and wouldn't sacrifice a hair from their head for the person they say
they love. I also hate ignorant, stupid people who pay no attention
to the world spinning around under them. And people who immediately think they know how everything is and should be.
Important qualities in a friend:
Must be caring (not all goopy-mushy caring, but I mean someone who actually
cares about me and other things), understanding, respectful, fun, interesting, and geeky as hell.
Important qualities in a more-than-a-friend:
must have all the friend qualities listed above, must be tall, attentive,
and geekier than all the rest of my friends combined.
