I will try to update my pic of the month once a month. Sometimes things happen and I cannot update on time or nothing really intrests me.
As you may very well know I am also a huge fan of the renasance era. I saw Gladiator not too long ago and was very into the action. I have heard alot of people saying that it was too much like Braveheart with the action. You have to remember that in those times, war was essential for survival. Fighting for what you believe in was a literal term. Yes there is blood and guts, but that was the time. Seriously, if you loved Braveheart, you will like Gladiator.
Shortly after seeing Gladiator, I was invited to a special screening to Battlefield Earth, the L. Ron Hubbard book that made him famous for sci-fi writing. It was obvious that most of the actors and actresses are Scientologists (go figure) and it did follow somewhat close to the book. Travolta and Whittaker did excelent jobs. The costumes looked too much like Jar Jar Binks' attire for my taste. Special effects were good, but could have done better. It is hard to keep somewhat of a budget when you are making a three hour movie (a three hour movie), so the special effects are excusable on that part. All in all it was a great film for thoes who like to see films that were originaly books and for thoes who love sci-fi.
