Food
Ty has been vegetarian since 1986. He will eat dairy products and eggs, but his main staple is beans. He greatly avoids processed foods. His favorite kind of food is Indian. He also likes Mexican, Middle Eastern, Ethiopian, and Far Eastern. He enjoys to cook, especially Indian food, and to have friends over for dinner.
Avoiding Tobacco
One of Ty's pursuits is avoiding tobacco. He has acquired a long list of smoke-free restaraunts, coffee shops, and other places. He longs for a smoke-free dance club, where he can...
Dance
Ever since New Wave music came along, Ty has enjoyed dancing to it. He still likes to dance in an early '80's New Wave style. He also enjoys watching dance performances, particularly modern dance (of everyone he has seen so far, his favorite dancer and choreographer is Meg Stuart (see also here). Columbus has proven to be a good place for dance performance, with the OSU Department of Dance and The Wexner Center for the Arts.
Sailing
Ty grew up sailing a Mirror dinghy. The Mirror is a two-person boat with a centerboard, a mainsail, and a jib, with an optional spinnaker. It is eleven feet long, and is most easily identified by its red sails. Ty began helming the Mirror at age eleven, and has competed across the United States and in Wales. In 1982 he was ranked the fifth best Mirror sailor in the U.S. Since entering college, he has had some but little opportunity to sail. He hopes this will change.
