      Characteristics of the Program:Although the Universidade de São Paulo did not offer a program in Neuroscience in connection with the Experimental Psychology department, the large majority of the course work was taken at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences. Three one-year internships were completed in the Neuroanatomy, Neurophysiology and Neurohistology Laboratories where graduate courses for credit and a number of supervised individual study projects were undertaken. Besides focusing on the neural aspects of language representation, courses in Learning and Memory and Representation of Subjective States at the Experimental Psychology Department were successfully completed.

    WORK EXPERIENCE:

    • I am presently the CEO/headmaster of the ESCOLA DE EDUCAÇÃO INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA, a school of international education for children ages 2-10 in Salvador, Brazil.
    • I have been involved in teaching foreign languages for more than 15 years. In 1988 I founded EFY® ENGLISH FOR YOU, a language school with a residential atmosphere, and over the years we have developed a unique approach to teaching oral English to children, adolescents and adults. The school uses authentic materials that are original and constantly being improved and renewed. EFY® has a staff of fully bilingual and native speaker teachers. My job as the director of this institution has included setting up the theoretical framework of the school, training teachers and participating in every phase of the creation and testing of new materials.

    • I have taught Portuguese as a Foreign Language to English-speakers for 6 years. I served as vice-president for SIPLE (Sociedade Internacional Português Lingua Estrangeira - International Society for Portuguese as a Foreign Language) from 1993-1995
