On 6th of March 1995 students of the Little Lillys English School spoke to astronaut Dr. Tammara Jernigan on board the `Endeavor'. This was a SAREX [Shuttle Amateur Radio Experiment] flight termed STS Astro-2 mission meant to study astrophysics. Dr. Tammy Jernigan was also the mission commander. This historic moment for the Indian school students occurred at 13:45 IST. Thus began new chapter on Amateur radio in schools in this sub-continent. Literally space science was brought right into their very class rooms, when students began asking questions briskly to the illustrious astronaut & mission commander `Tammy' about their mission. The school students asked 11 questions and received their answers in the full 10 minutes alloted to them. There were 11 school students involved in this unique interaction. `Click here' to listen to this outstanding telebridge contact [1 min. sample sound clip] conducted by the school mentor Frank Bauer KA3HDO & his NASA ground team.
