Research team of
VGRS is headed by Dr
Nenad Vekaric, Director
of the Institute
for Historical Sciences of Croatian Academy of Sciences
and Arts. He is
considered one of the most qualified experts in
genealogical research
in Croatia. During 1973-1997 Dr Vekaric has
systematically researched
into archives, parishes and other pertinent
sources
of genealogical
roots for families of Dubrovnik and surroundings
areas.
He elaborated and completed
the data base including more than 1000
registers,
church records, testaments, legal documents and other official
papers. Dr Vekaric
is able today to offer genealogical analysis for more
than 3000 family
names and family history for the mentioned areas. For
his research work
he was awarded with Award of Dubrovnik City (1989)
and Dubrovnik Province
Award for the Promotion of Dubrovnik in the World
