History of the 52nd Guards Rifles


Battles and Awards

The 52nd Guards originally consisted of the 151st,153rd,and 155th Guards Rifles Regiments,the 124th Guards Artillery Regiment and was Activated at Voronezh,Orel Military District as an NKVD Motorized Rifle Division in December of 1941.


HISTORY

Redesignated 8th NKVD Motorized Rifle Division, January 1942
Reformed as the 63rd Rifle Division, July 1942
Designated GUARDS while at Stalingrad, November 1942
At Belgorod, March 1943
At the Voronezh Front in April, 1943
At Kursk,badly beat up by German attacks,designated as a "Crack" unit by STAVKA, July 1943
At Belgorod/Kharkov in August, 1943
At the Baltic Front in October, 1943
Leningrad/Novgorod November-December, 1943
In the Baltic again April-October, 1944
At Riga in October, 1944
Warsaw/Poznan in January, 1945
In Berlin in April, 1945

Recieved the Orders of Lenin,Suvarov,and Kutuzov
