The Best GIFT

I still remember the incident during the Chinese New Year 1997. When everyone was having a nice holiday, my family was having the most sorrowful and sad moment. My father was having a brain operation in Kuala Lumpur because one of his blood vessel in the brain burst. Before the operation, the doctor had explained to my mother that the success rate of this operation was low. At that time I thought I was going to lose my father.

It was 10 o'clock at night on the 14th February 1997. On that day every year I should be celebrating my birthday with my family. Unfortunately, that was the time when my father was having the operation. Every member in my family couldn't sleep that night. We all gathered together and prayed to God because He is the only one who can save my father.

The phone rang at 2 o'clock in the morning next day. I thanked God when my mother told me that the operation was successful. But my father was still in a coma. According to the doctor's explaination, the patient after a brain operation will wake up after 3 days in normal case. If my father couldn't wake up after 3 days, he would be in coma forever.

During those days, we prayed hard to the Lord that he will heal my father from the coma. Finally, our prayers were answered. My father woke up after 2 days. He was back to a normal person. He could remember all the things. The doctor said that it was a miracle because for a normal patient, after a brain operation it is impossible to recover in a short time. But my father did it.

On the whole, I have to thank God because he had saved my father from the sickness. I am sure that God was the one who saved him because my father said that Jesus was holding his hands on the way during the coma. Before the incident happened, my father was a heavy smoker, gambler and drinker. He never cared about my studies and all my activities. But after God had healed my father, he changed a lot. He doesn't smoke, gamble or drink. He is so caring about our family. He has become a good father.

Lastly, once again, I would like to thank God because he had given me the "Best Gift" on my birthday for the year 1997, because of that I will do my best to serve the Lord forever and ever.
