The companion Brighter Choice Charter Schools -- the Brighter Choice Charter School for Girls and the Brighter Choice Charter School for Boys -- will provide a new model for urban elementary education, one that joins high academic standards, a nurturing and structured environment, and heightened accountability. The charter schools, located in Albany, NY, will target at-risk students and offer Kindergarten through 5th grade, when fully phased in under its current charter, with a total combined maximum enrollment of 290 students. The school will open in September 2002 with Kindergarten and first grade, then adding a grade each year.

Calvert School, a nondenominational elementary school located just north of the John Hopkins University campus in Baltimore, Maryland, provides an excellent day school education to area boys and girls. At the same time, the school offers an educational opportunity of similar quality to English-speaking children around the world through its Home Instruction Department.
