Welcome to Velma's Backyard!

Hello! My name is Velma Tinch.

My husband, Bob, and I are retired high school teachers. We have a large variety of interests, many of which are featured in our favorite links listed below. Be sure to visit often, as this page is a work in progress. For the incurably curious, here's a link to our mugshots [slightly out-of-date].

Visit our backyard!

Visit some of our favorite links from the list below, or click into this GENEALOGY link for a list of the surnames on which we are doing research.

Click into this CATS link to meet the small creatures who have shared our home over the years. Unfortunately, some of them are now deceased, but you can see what special little creatures they were.

Special Genealogy Links include various public records which Bob and I are transcribing for the use of other genealogists on the internet.

You'll also find a page for helping computer novices who type lots of recipes, or who write in non-English languages. I've listed the ASCII Character Codes and instructions for easily inserting them into your own documents.
