See the video Mysterious Egypt.  

Learn about Egyptian mummification.  

Begin making mummy cases.  

Begin chicken mummification

 

 

Week 2:

Continue learning about mummification as we study animal mummies.  

See video Mummies Made in Egypt.  

Complete mummy cases.  

Check on chicken mummification.

 

 

Week 3:

 

Learn about Egyptian gods and goddesses

Write your own Egyptian myth

Make amulets 

 

 

 

Week 4:

 

Learn about Egyptian architecture

Carve a sphinx

Experiment with Levers

Pyramid video

 

 

Week 5:

 

Learn about Egyptian art and make our own tomb paintings

Continue with lever lessons

 

Week 6:

 

Field trip to the Carlos Museum

 

Week 7:

 

Learn about Egyptian hieroglyphs

Learn to play the game Senet

Make Egyptian collars and learn about Egyptian clothing

Week 8:

Learn about famous pharaohs such as King Tut

Make a replica of Tut's throne

 

 

Week 9:

 

Field trip to the Carlos Museum (Friday)

Complete independent projects

 

Week 10:

 

Open House

Tomb projects due

All independent projects due

 

 

Our field trip to the Carlos Museum in Atlanta is Friday, January 18th.  Permission slips and money are due by Friday, January 11th!!!!!  Please don't forget!  Parents, we would love for you to go.  This is a wonderful trip and we will see lots of neat Egyptian artifacts including several mummies!!!!!
