Ken
and Rhonda Go to New York Over
Memorial Day weekend, 1999 Ken took me to visit his family in New York.
Since this was my first trip to the Big Apple, I didn't know WHAT to expect!
I ended up having a blast, of course, as the pictures below will show you....
Here
I am in front of the New York Public Library. It was definitely a
thrill for a book lover like me! Notice I am trying my best NOT to
look like a tourist posing for a photo. And I succeed in looking
just like a tourist posing for a picture! Shocking, isn't it???
This
is me in front of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. That place is HUGE!!!!
We spent about 3 hours there and STILL didn't even come close to seeing
everything.
Here
we are posing in front of the Temple of Dendur at the Museum... It
was a breathtaking sight.
Surprisingly,
with all the fantastic art in this museum, I think my favorite exhibit
was the Arms& Armor section. It's hard to believe that folks
actually WORE these things. (But then again, they used to ride toward
each other on horses holding really sharp sticks too...)
While
at the MMA, we found the most amazing spot in Manhattan. This was
taken at the Roof Garden. It's a sculpture garden that looks out
into Central Park. It is such a lovely, tranquil place in the middle
of the city. The photo simply doesn't do it justice...
The following photos are from Day
2 of our New York Adventure. On the agenda was Ellis Island, the
World Trade Center, Fifth Avenue (SHOPPING!!!) and Greenwich Village.
