Proof of my line to 1720, just hypothesis before that:
Samuel Noland Holland (1884-1968)  md. GRIFFITH
Dr. Samuel Noland Holland (1850-1919) md. DUPRE
Dr. William Turner Holland (1819-1879)  the first name my family Bible, md. MADDOX in 1847
Reverend James Harrison Holland (Jan 3, 1793- Apr 25, 1847)  md. MEARES in 1813
    1.  disposition of his property
    2.  land records with sons/daughters
    3.  wife Elizabeth Meares (July 19, 1784 - circa 1870) nine years older than her husband!
    4.  published Rock Springs Church history for surname and birthdates
James Holland, Sr. (circa 1749-circa 1819) md. Susannah ______ before 1782
    1.  had not reached majority age when father dies Cumberland Co. VA, 1763
    2.  Abt 1771, was possibly in Buckingham County, VA (records lost)
    3.  1770-1780's, a James Holland is in Charlotte Co., VA associated with Wright BOND
    4.  abt 1778, may be same James Holland in land records now in Lincoln Co., NC
    5.  1792 selling land to Jacob Holland in SC, moves to Greenville County about 1796
    6.  click  here to study the two James Hollands in the 1810 SC Census
    7.  he is James Sr. in  Greenville County, SC deeds
    8.  1831, his widow Susannah is selling land in Greenville Co., SC
John Holland (bef 1720 - 1763) md. Jane BOND before 1746
    1.  1740 files suit against Peter, Jr. for debt, means he was born before circa 1720
    2.  between 1763-1766 there are "accounts" for James  as an "orphan of John"
    3.  James has brother Thomas, also an orphan, apprenticed to "Luke Kent, carpenter"
    4.  James is devised in John's will 300 acres in Buckingham County, VA
    5.  John Holland's will is probated in Cumberland County, VA in October, 1763
HERE ENDS MY KNOWN LINE
Now, also in the Virginia records are a certain
Peter Holland (circa 1686 England - circa 1724 Essex Co.) md. Susannah Tarrent, and maybe another Peter Holland that immigrated to Essex County, VA in 1698/9.  Whether this is a father and son or same person is not determined.

You are encouraged to use the scientific method in your work, which means you should be able to go to the above records and find specific deeds and records that duplicate the above.  Three different primary records are usually required to prove an ancestor; my particular line therefore ends with John in 1720.  Also, I only qualify as a secondary source, and any work produced herein is therefore NOT proof.
