Kids' Art Gallery

Kids are always giving me drawings when I visit schools or they send them in the mail. I wish I could display all of them but here are a few. Enjoy!

Madison, who lives near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, gave me this delightful poster of Fly Guy. I know she thinks he's a SUPER Fly Guy but she also knows he how much he loves to eat! So he is a SUPPER Fly Guy, and, sure enough, it looks like he is putting on a few pounds. Thank you, Madison!

Fly Guy has lots of friends. Kris from Owego sent me a drawing of a few of them. Dinosaurs and robots and--what exactly is that little guy down at the bottom?

I really love idioms and Ryan from Owego recently sent this one. When I saw this drawing, I laughed my head...er...well...if my head is already OFF, maybe I should say I laughed my head ON. Ryan's whole class sent me idioms and I'm sorry I don't have time to put them all on my web site.

Check out Green Wilma by Addy in Owego. Wilma doesn't look so happy. Maybe she hasn't had any new adventures in a long time. Maybe she will be happy to know she will star in a new Green Wilma book soon. It will be called, GREEN WILMA--FROG IN SPACE. I have just started the illustrations!

Fly Guy is quickly making friends--with readers, with artists and with other flies. Heather, a first grade artist from Pine City, New York gave me this cool drawing of Fly Guy and his friend. I love how they can fly so close together about an inch off the ground!

Check out the dedication page in my new book, Hi! Fly Guy and you will find Sam and Eli. They are my good buddies and when they saw that dedication page, they were inspired to make this huge "Thank you" drawing. That's Sam on the left, Eli on the right and Fly Guy in the middle. The drawing is about three feet long!!! Keep up the good work, boys!

A tip of the ol' ten gallon hat to Tri for sending me this rip-snorting western scene inspired by Lasso Lou and Cowboy McCoy. Tri is fantastic artist, don't you agree?

I really, really love the spirited way Huggly is jumping on the bed in this great drawing by Justin who lives in northern Pennsylvania. And I love the title of the drawing, as if it's the title of a book, Huggly and the Big Red Bed!

Along with Huggly, kids seem to enjoy drawing the monster from Inside a House That Is Haunted. Here is Ashley's version of Frankie holding a tooth brush and asking, "Where's my mouthwash?" Wow, check out this guy's bloodshot eyes! You need more rest, Frankie!

Not everyone sends me drawings of characters from my books. Some kids send their own creative characters, like these from Angelica. I particularly like their names, "Ainker Man," "Mombo the Lombo," and "Wartty".

Here is the kid from Parts, drawn very accurately in ballpoint pen and crayon by Mason, from the Altoona, Pennsylvania area. I like how that piece of brain shoots right out of his nose, just like in real life!

It's Frankie again from Inside a House That Is Haunted! He was monstrously drawn by Kelly from Columbus, Ohio. I love the spooky shadow behind him and the cool wallpaper. It looks like Frankie just noticed that he needs to clip his fingernails.

Keep checking back here for new kids' drawings. One might be yours!
