Yep, I'm one of those Californicators, however I moved to Utah In December, 1977
so it would really be a toss up as to where I claim residence. I
was born in Mt Vernon, Illinois but moved to California when I was two weeks old. So I have lived in California some ?? years and over 20 yrs in Utah. I moved to Washington State in October 1998, but returned to Utah the end of January 1999. I am not a Californian, Utahn,or a Washintonian...I am an
American!
UTAH
In Utah I have lived in North Ogden, South Ogden, Uintah, Roy,
Bountiful, North Salt Lake, West Valley City (SLC) and Kearns.
I love to travel the state!
I returned to Utah the end of January 1999, after staying in Washington State four and a half months. I am now working for a large Nationwide and International trucking firm with corporate offices in West Valley, Utah...CR England, Inc., as Assistant to the Senior Vice President of Corporate Sales and Marketing.
For eight years my family and I owned and operated a retail Pet
Shop in Ogden called "Toshi's Exotica Pet Shop, the Unusual."
We were the largest Pet Shop in Northern Utah and carried every type of
squiggly creatures and critters you could ever want! We carried a large
fresh & salt water inventory of fish and had many 100-300 gallon show tanks. The shop was very successful.
A full time, seven-days-a-week type business, enough to keep anyone busy!
I am beginning a new chapter of my life and moved to Washington State on the 20th of October 1998. My mother, sisters and brothers all live there, so it will be nice to catch up on many years. I have nothing to add at this time until I have a chance to look around and decide what I want to do for the rest of my life!
It's time for me to move back to Utah. My friend's car was broken into at Priest Port Park in Olympia while we were leisurely hiking on a Sunday afternoon January 10, 1999. The thief broke the window of the car, stole my purse, which had my life in it, all credit cards, drivers license, checking and ATM debit cards, daytimer, AM/FM/CD car radio and many other personal items that can never be replaced! The Washingtonian got away with $490 before I was able to close all accounts.
I have tried to obtain employment since October, 1998. NADA! Now of course I can't apply because I do not have any form of ID. Yes, Washington is a beautiful state from afar. Who knows where I might end up if I decided to stick around! Since I am now broke, I have to keep my furniture and personal belongings at a storage unit in Yelm, drive back to Utah, get a job, and then fly back later to haul all my personal effects from Yelm, Washington to Utah. What a new beginning this turned out to be!!!! My house is leased out in Utah until November of this year so I will have to stay with my children.
Dear reader, have you ever made such stupid mistakes in your life? Moral to the story;
"The grass is not greener on the other side, regardless of how many trees there might be!"
Oh, and this is a good one. I had called the motor vehicles licensing department in WA and explained what had happened, and asked if I could at least obtain a Washington photo ID. The person I talked to said, "Yes, a photo ID will cost $4.00, but that I would need to present a photo ID to apply." Hmmmmmmmm!!!!
I read a quote by T.S. Elliot in Little Gidding and I'd like to use it here since it fits...
We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.
PROFESSIONAL
At the age of three I started professionally performing on radio and made guest appearances on TV with Bob Hope, Steve Allen, Lawrence Welk, and Harry Babbit, to mention a few.
