I think because I am
I am a 19 year old normality challenged bum (euphemistically, a "zen master," perhaps?), residing in Missouri (USA). I am also a partner and co-founder of INTENEX. My education credentials consist of a GED (where did I put that thing?), and thousands of hours of self education. Here are some of my interests/obsessions.
- Philosophy: Although I've read widely in this field, I've been most influenced by Ayn Rand and Friedrich Nietzsche (I can hear 50% of you disconnecting). Their ideas on morality were probably the single greatest force in my personal development. If I ever make it back to college, this is my intended major.
- Psychology: The subject of intelligence became a major preoccupation in my early teenage years (nasty identity crises, boring details). As a result, I read compulsively on the subject, including IQ, gifted children, education of gifted children, "genius", etc.
- Physics: I've read a lot of pop works on theoretical physics. quantum mechanics, particle physics, and relativity, were all very intriguing to me. I sometimes wish I would have sent myself in that direction. Maybe I still will some day...
- Politics: I'm an armchair Libertarian crusader. My views on politics are derived directly from my moral beliefs. I DON'T believe morality and politics can be separated--at least not without ending up with the kinds of problems and paradox's legislators must deal with today.
- Financial Markets: Although I have no money whatsoever, and never really have, I have always been interested in the subject. I would be a contrarian by approach, and I believe I understand the mass psychology of markets. Time will tell.
- Computers: I only recently got into programming and other technical aspects, but it's been a hell of a crash course! I am constantly furthering my knowledge of internet related matters, and have learned the fundamentals of a few programming languages on the side.
- Music: I've played guitar for about 3 years now. I guess you could call my style grunge, because I can barely play : ). I write songs constantly, and intend to be in a band in some theoretical future in some parallel universe. My favorite bands/performers are Tool, Counting Crows, Tori Amos, Def Tones, and Korn (their new album redeems them after their boring second one). Yes, I AM aware of the disparity between them, but it's the FEELINGS that are important.
- Poetry: I write it whenever the muse strikes me blind to my inadequicies. I especially admire the beats, Allen Ginsberg being my favorite by far.
- Chess: I spent two years of my life with the intention of being a professional chess player. It, um...didn't work out. As a result, part of me loathes the game, but I can still occasionally enjoy it.
