Marching Band is a combination of the Concert and Symphony Bands. The Marching Band performs at all the home
varsity football games and at MSBOA. MSBOA is where bands from around the area come together, one night, and perform before a panel of judges that rate the performance. The Troy High School Marching Band
received all A's from the judges, which gave us a 1st division rating. This year, the marching band also performed in the Thanksgiving Day Parade in Detroit and in the Rochester Christmas Parade. In order to get ready for all of these events, all students are required to attend a one week long band camp each summer. While having fun,
the students learn the drill formations, music, and the fundamentals of marching. Band camp is a lot of work, but it builds team spirit and connects the members through shared memories and experiences.
Before camp, rookies are required to attend a week-long clinic on basic marching skills. This brings the rookies closer to the skill level that the returning members have. This is all done before school
starts because the football games start right at the beginning of the school year. In order to perform at a level that is consistent with Troy High's excellent reputation, we take marching seriously, but we also
have fun. |
