PRIMARY LEVELS
For people with little or no knowledge of Russian. The course includes basic vocabulary and grammar, construction of simple sentences, questions, proper word order, and guided conversation.
INTERMEDIATE LEVELS
For people who can communicate adequately in Russian but need to express themselves with more precision and fluency. The course stresses vocabulary enrichment and idioms. Students are encouraged to express themselves clearly and correctly both in conversation and in writing.
CONVERSATIONAL RUSSIAN
These courses will improve the student's ability to converse freely and effectively on campus, at work, and in social situations.
ADVANCED LEVELS
For Persons with good Russian comprehension and speaking ability who wish to achieve fluency and a greater appreciation of the subtleties of the language. Students are encouraged to present their social viewpoints on various topics from politics to social and personal concerns.
ADVANCED SEMINARS
These classes simulate university course-work by offering academic lectures and discussions on a variety of subjects, such as Russian History, Science and Natural History, and Literature and the Arts, and by teaching university-level research skills.
BUSINESS RUSSIAN
This course teaches the language skills needed in buying, selling, and negotiating in Russian. It is indispensable to those entering college or university business programs.
RUSSIAN THROUGH VIDEO AND GAMES
For upper intermediate and advanced levels, there are a variety of innovative programs. Educational Videos allow teachers and students to analyze how Russians really speak! Stories, short plays, songs, and games improve the students' skills of self-expression and expand their vocabulary and use of idioms
CERTIFICATES
Certificates of Proficiency are given to all students upon completion of course work.
SHORT STAY/STUDY TRAVEL
MLC programs are designed to accommodate students, tourists , and business people who want to study Russian but only have a limited amount of time. Students can enroll for any amount of time. Students participate in the Academic Russian Program and MLC social activities. Enrollment accepted throughout the year.
STUDY TRAVEL GROUPS
Group programs include excursions to places of interest in and around Moscow
STUDENTS LEARNING RUSSIAN
may also take the opportunity to study another language.
GROUP CLASSES (levels 1, 2 and 3)
ENGLISH, SPANISH, FRENCH, ITALIAN, GERMAN, SWEDISH, PORTUGUESE Classes emphasize conversation and students are encouraged to talk, ask questions and participate in the classroom activities. Classes are limited to 9 people and meet twice a week for 8-9 weeks.
PRIVATE LESSONS (personalized one-on-one learning sessions)
All the MLC students are provided with the text-books, audio and video tapes with dialogues to study and all the classroom materials, including the interactive learning software (available soon).
