"Charles Van Dyke and William Mackey, both 21 years of age of East Northport, will not drive a motorcar without a license for the next 60 days for Monday Justice of the Peace, Floyd E. Bayles, sentenced them for that length of time when they were charged by Constable Robert Ray with driving without teh necessary license. Both admitted that they had served time in Riverhead before on a similar charge.

"Carl Fusaro, Salvatore Lepera, and Carmine Nigro, three young men of Huntington Station, whose ages range from 18 to 20 years, were held Sunday in $1,000 bail each on charges of assault in the second degree preferred against them by Julia Woelfel, mother of Elinor [sic] Woelfel, 13 years of age, of Melville, the alleged victim of the assault. All three cases were adjorned until next Saturday morning, when the District Attorney's Office will be represented by Asstistant District Attorney Fred J. Munder, and when a more serious charge may be pressed. The charge arose from the alleged assault by two of the young men against a boy who was escorting Miss Woelfel home from a carnival at Huntington Station, followed by an automobile ride in the early hours of Sunday morning, in which the three defendants and the girl participated."

"Otto Joseph Schneider, aged 59, of Scudder Avenue, died Tuesday of this wek at the Memorial Hospital in New York City where he had been taken last week following a critical illness with which he bad suffered since last June. Mr. Schneider was a baker by trade. He was born in Germany, the son of Wilhelm Schneider and Walburger Ballweg Schneider on July 5, 1883. He came to America in 1902 and in 1908 married Anna Herold. The couple had lived in Northport the past 20 years. Besides his widow he leaves seven children all of Northport. A son, Corp. Arthur Schneider is in the service of his country. The body is reposing at the New York Funeral Service, 148 East 74th Street, new York City and will be brought to Northport on Saturday, January 2, where his son the Rev. Herman Schneider, O.P., will be the celebrant of the solemn mass of requiem at 11:30 A.M. at St. Philip Neri's Church. Burial will be in St. Philip's Cemetery."

"The Rev. Herman Schneider, O.P., has returned to the Dominocan House of Studies in Washington, DC, following a month's visit in Northport with his monther, Mrs. Otto Schneider of Scudder Avenue.

"Residents of East Northport last week mourned the loss of one of its former business associates, Mrs. Loretta Mastriano, wife of John Mastriano, who some years ago assisted her husband in maintaining a fruit, vegetable and grocery market in the Kline Building. She died of a heart attack on Tuesday, August 29, while attending the wake of her father, Ferdinand DeMio of Brooklyn, aged 80. The death of the wife and mother came as a sudden shock to the family, who expected her home-coming on the followign day. Mrs. Mastriano was 48 years of age, and was born in Brooklyn April 5. They have been residents of East Northport for the past 18 years. Services were held on Friday morning at St. Edwards Church in Brooklyn. Interment took place at St. John's Cemetery, Brooklyn. She is survived by her husband, a young daughter, Joan, eleven, another daughter, Mrs. Otto Schneider of East Northport, and Pfc. John Mastriano, somewhere in Italy.

The party took plave in a room prettily decorated for the occasion in pink and white with a decorated watering can as the central feature. Refreshments were also served and Miss Woelfel received many lovely as well as useful gifts. In addition to the future bride's mother, and her sisters, Miss Louise Woelfel, Mrs. Rita Bottego, Mrs. Frances Nolan, all of Melville, and Mrs. Eleanor Bellmer of Levittown, teh guests included Mrs. Lilly Barker, Mrs. Alva Cruso, Mrs. John Hall, and Mrs. Lorraine Leise. The marriage will take place Feb. 4."

"Miss Barbara Marie Woelfel, daughter of Mrs. Julia Woelfel and the late Eugene Woelfel of Walt Whitman Road, Meville, became the bride of Walter Mangussen of Arlington Avenue, Melville, son of Mr. and Mrs. Axel Magnussen of Ft. Lee, N. J. The ceremony was performed by Rev. John Uris at St. Hugh's R. C. Church Sunday afternoon. The church altar was decorated with flowers, bridal music was played by Mrs. Margaret Kunz, while solos were sung by Sammy Marrone. Miss Woelfel was escorted to the altar on the arm of her brother, Walter Woelfel and given in marriage by him. She was gowned in white satin fashioned with a high neckline, fitted bodice and full skirt. A crown of lace held her fingertip veil in place, and she carried a bouquet of white carnations. Miss Louise Woelfel of Melville, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore a gown of peacock blue satin, her open crown headress matched her gown and she carried a bouquet of pink carnations. Ernest Magnussen of Fort Lee, N.J., brother of the groom, was best man. While the ushers were John Henney of Brooklyn and Charles Cruse of Melville. A reception was given at Woelfel's Melville Grove at which one hundred and fifty guests were present. The couple left on a honeymoon trip upstate. They will reside at Arlington Avenue in Melville. Mrs. Magnussen is a graduate of Huntington High School and is employed at the Woelfel Restaurant. Mr. Magnussen, is a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy for five years. He is employed at Republic Aviation Corp., in Farmingdale.'
