The WT seems to place a major emphasis on "Scripture". Then it must be OK to compare WT teaching with the Scriptures!!!

It should be to JWs to note that WT theology is based on, & has so many references (608,667) to ASSUMPTION, CONJECTURE, PRESUMPTION, SPECULATION, & SUPPOSITION, etc., in stark contrast to Scripture (12,933). The 608,667 total is dramatically understated because it only lists what is on the 1997 CD. The 12,933 total is highly inflated by the footnote references. (Actual # of Scripture references in col. In mentioning the "maggot" in connection with Gehenna, Jesus evidently was ALLUDING to the dump outside the city of Jerusalem where fires consumed the refuse and where worms or maggots subsisted on decaying matter near, but not in, the fire. A diplomat had to leave an important meeting, & asked his assistant to carefully listen to everything that was said, & to make sure to RECORD what was said immediately following the word "but", or "however". But & however (& although) are very powerful & useful words / weapons / tools. But in the hands of a speculator, they become dangerous. For example: " that Jesus spoke of the holy spirit as a 'helper' & spoke of such helper as 'teaching,' 'bearing witness,' 'giving evidence,' 'guiding,' 'speaking,' 'hearing,' & 'receiving.' ... , it is not unusual in the Scriptures for something to be personalized or personified that is not actually a person." [Insight p.1019, & Aid p.1543] -- With 2 words ("however" & "personified"), & swish, swish, WT magicians make truthful evidence disappear into insignificance (but only for the gullible).

Jesus said: "Young man, I say to you, Get up!" And what happened? "The dead man sat up and started to speak." (Luke 7:11-17) But, here again, did the young man say anything about a place where people go at death? No, for APPARENTLY he had simply been dead. (Are the Dead Alive? 8/1 1986 WT, p.4-7) -- But the article doesn't mention Luke 16:22-24. Also the rich man died & was buried. And in Hades he lifted up his eyes, he existing in torments... & SAID... "I am in anguish in this blazing fire."

A wise person will "make sure of all things" that affect his welfare. He looks carefully to the things he eats and wears, and does not indifferently ASSUME that whatever is offered to him is worth his acceptance. How much more should he "make sure of all things" that stand related to his spiritual and eternal welfare! He should properly make sure that the things he accepts and believes are sound, reasonable, true and Scriptural. (Announcements, 3/15 1955 WT, p.192) -- Right on !!!

A LIE is defined as 1. a false statement or action, especially one made with intent to deceive . . . 2. anything that gives or is meant to give a false IMPRESSION. The intention is to cause others to believe something that the liar knows is not the truth. By lies or half-truths, he strives to deceive those who are entitled to know the truth. This would mean a period of distress for them, which would logically be included in the "time of distress" that is associated with Michael's standing up. (Da 12:1) Since the Son of God is to fight the nations, it is only REASONABLE that he was the one who with his angels earlier battled against the superhuman dragon, Satan the Devil, and his angels. Also weighing against a December date is that it would be MOST UNLIKELY for the Roman emperor to choose such a wintry, rainy month as the time for his Jewish subjects (often rebellious) to travel "each one to his own city" to be registered. (Insight, Jesus Christ, p.58) -- This is a very speculative & very weak argument. The Romans were very cruel, & "comfort" for the vanquished, wasn't a high priority. Herod knew he could slaughter Caesar's subjects (i.e. all male babies 2 & under) & get away with it.
