Welcome to Black Midnight. This is a place where ideas can be expressed in a free and open-minded environment. Here at Black Midnight we have one simple and basic purpose: To help people share ideas, thoughts, opinions and talent. We have a strong believe in free expression and a lack of social barriers. While this is an open-minded site, we tend to cater more to the mature audience. There are no childrens stories on the site, though most pieces carry a PG-R rating (referring to movie ratings system) and any pieces with profanity or sexual aspects generally carry a disclaimer. We are always accepting new submissions. You'll have to forgive me if it takes a while to to get back to you, but I do like to read each and every submission. Recommended Reading: #57 by Cailean Darkwater: This is a very intriguing story told through press releases and reports for literary effect. It's a fascinating piece of fiction. Poetry: Hands: This is a moving poem that I think different people will relate to on many different levels, depending on what meaning the reader needs at the moment.

Updates: This page was created on June 26, 1998 9/18/00: Hello folks, the back to school rush is over and now I can (hopefully) find more time to devote to the site. I finally updated. We have four new contributors, two of them, Mas Badpoor and Spyfox, are in the Poetry Index, along with new poems by Donna Foreman (all of which are wonderful). The other two, Mary Tomaselli and Jesse Boyd, are in the Story/Essay Index alonr with new stories by Dawn Zeisler and Cailean Darkwater. Not that the little one is in school, I have a few hours a day to myself so I try to stay on top of the site now. Wish me luck. More updates to come. Until then, happy reading and positive karma for all you do! Also, for those of you interested in the "This Girl's Life" series, I'm sorry I haven't updated in so long. At the moment I am thinking of taking it down all together. But, being a fair person who is always thinking of my readers, I decided to ask you if I should take it down. So, if you want to see more added to that series, simply click HERE and then press send. If enough people ask, I will definitely begin adding to that series again. On a more professional note, Black Midnight is looking for people to contribute essays and short stories focused on the gay/lesbian communities. I have noticed that this is a subject that is not fully appreciate in the mainstream literary community. So, if you have stories or essays about anything from realizing your sexuality to coming out to family and friends, please send them.
