History of the Fraternity

The Triskelion Grand Fraternity was founded on the 4th day of
October in the year of our Lord nineteen hundred and sixty eight
at the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City.
The fraternity was organized by four students from College of Arts
and Sciences as a protest to the then existing fraternity system which
was plagued by violent hazing and bloody fraternity fights known as "rumbles".

Originally named "Order of the U.P. Triskelions", the group swelled
in ranks when more familiar Greek letter acronym "Tau Gamma Phi" was
adopted. Later, chapters from other collegiate institutions in Metro
Manila were established.

The Tau Gamma Phi's bylaws, better known to its members as their
"Tenets and Code of Conduct", are based on spiritual, moral and
ethical values. The fraternity lives by a balance of three dynamic
forces: Strength, Free Will and Brotherhood, as shown on the fraternity
seal "Fortis, Voluntas, Fraternitas".

To date the fraternity has over half million members all over the
Philippines with expatriate chapters in Hongkong, Guam, Middle East,
United Kingdom, Canada and the United States.

The Tau Gamma Phi aims to rule and conquer the universe... not through
force but through the propagation of Triskelion principles which are the Tenets
and Codes of Conduct of the fraternity.

"The Triskelion firmly believes in the power of a reason
and not in the use of power as a reason".
