Construction of Our New Sanctuary: In times of crisis our is to gather together with our faith community in our holy space. This was vividly clear this past month in the midst of our national tragedy; we needed to be together in a place that affirmed the presence of God in our lives. Barbara Bradley, our choir director, was stuck out at sea on a cruise ship when the horrors of the terrorist attack began; she said afterwards that what she kept feeling was how much she wanted to get back to her church. Television news people, usually careful to avoid any mention of God, were freely speaking of the Almighty. In the midst of what we’ve been through together I’ve felt a confirmation of the plans we’ve made to construct our new sanctuary. In Psalm 27, in a time of great adversity and danger, the psalmist writes, “One thing I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in the Lord’s temple.” (27:4) When the ugliness of evil is very visible in the world, there is the need we have to gather together in our holy space and “behold the beauty of the Lord.” Our new sanctuary, with its simple beauty, will provide such a space for gathering. We are presently looking for ways to somehow memorialize the innocent lives that were lost on September 11th in the construction of our sanctuary. Pastor Jeff |
Building Pledges: We are presently in the second year of a three year pledge made by members of our church family for the Building Program. We are anticipating beginning construction as soon as we have the building permit in hand, and signing for a mortgage. Whatever money we have up front will lower the long term cost of the project. Thank you for your support!

Other Information: The contractor is Frankowski Construction Co. East Orange, NJ As soon as the builder can begin, he will do so. He would like to see the new building closed in before the winter weather, which could mean we will be able to worship in our new Sanctuary by Easter 2002.
