============================================
John's Writings On The Book Of Revelation:
1.
Scripture: "The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which [the Triune] God gave to Him [Jesus], to show to His servants things which must shortly come to pass; and He sent and signified it by His angle to His servant John, {Revelation 1:1}."2. Above verse Paraphrased: "This is the
revelation of Jesus Christ ... His unveiling of the Divine mysteries. God gave it to Him to disclose and make known to His bond servants certain things which must shortly and speedily come to pass. And He sent and communicated it through His angel [messenger] to His bond servant John."3.
Commentary: "The correct title of Revelation indicates that it is not a revelation of the Apostle John, but of Jesus Christ. The unveiling tells what He will accomplish in consummating time and ushering in eternity. So significant is the truth embodied in the message of this book that there is a five-fold avenue of transmission of the word: the Father to the Son to the mediating angel to John the Apostle/prophet to God's servants. Emphasis is laid on the fact that John not only heard messages, but he saw visions as well [Greek 'hosaeiden']. The statement "Things which must shortly come to pass," gives no basis for the historical interpretation of the book.4. Events are seen here from the perspective of the Lord and not from the human viewpoint, see
{2- Peter 3:8}. The same Greek words appear in {Luke 18:7-8} [en tachei], where the delay is clearly a prolonged one. The words: "He sent and signified it by His angle," He signified [Greek, 'esemanen'] the message; that is, He conveyed it by signs to the angel. In both the Old and New Testaments the ministry of angels is employed with regard to future events, {Ezekiel 1:5-14; Daniel 8:16; Zechariah 1:9; Acts 8:26; and 10:3, 7}."5.
Scripture: "Behold, He comes with clouds; and every eye shall see Him, and they also which pierced Him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of Him. Even so, Amen, {Revelation 1:7}." See {Matthew 24:29-30}.6.
Commentary: "The Second Coming of Christ to earth in fulfillment of Old Testament prediction, {Daniel 7:13} will be seen by every person on the earth at that time. That particular time is spoken of in {Zechariah 12:10}. Believers today are also looking forward to the time of His appearing in the clouds of Heaven to Rapture them from this earth up into Paradise.7.
Scripture: "I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, {Revelation 1:10}."8.
Commentary: "In the Spirit," i.e., in a state of spiritual ecstasy. Just as all Scripture is given by the inspiration of the Spirit, so John was under the control of the Spirit when the vision was revealed to him. Concerning the words "Lord's day," we believe this is speaking of the "Day of the Lord." J. A. Seiss in his writings on the Apocalypse, pp. 17-19], said that the Day of the Lord is referred to many times in the O.T. and elaborated on in the {Book of Revelation}. However, he said that "the majority of expositors are surely correct in understanding the reference to be to the first day of the week, Sunday." This being so, this means we have a double meaning in the verse as is often seen in countless Bible verses. The words "a great voice" in the verse, is that of Christ {V. 15} and is likened to a "sound of a trumpet" to indicate that the message was a matter of great public importance.9.
{V. 13} Scripture: "And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.10.
{V. 14} His head and His hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and His eyes were as a flame of fire;11.
{V. 15} And His feet like unto fine brass [bright like they were burnished bronze], as if they burned in a furnace; and His voice as the sound of many waters. See {Daniel 10:6}.12.
{V. 16} And He had in His right hand seven stars: and out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword: and His countenance was as the sun shining in His strength, {Revelation 1:13-16}." See {Exodus 34:29}.13.
[V. 19] Scripture: "Write the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and [signify] the things which shall be hereafter, {Revelation 1:19}."14.
Commentary, on the five verses above,15. [13]:
"Christ is revealed as the high priest coming in judgment, yet as the serving One. His clothing designates Him as priest and judge. Notice the description of the Ancient of Days in {Daniel 7:9}.16. [14]:
His head ... hairs ... white as snow; and His eyes were as a flame of fire. Compare the figure used in {1- Corinthians 3:13} in relation to judgment. This description is reminiscent of the judgment scene of {Daniel 7:13-14; 10:5 and Matthew 25:31-46}. What is stated in Daniel of "the Ancient of days" [the Father] is true of the Son, because they are both truly Divine.17. [15]
: In judgment Jesus will trample the wine-press of God's wrath {Isaiah 63:1-5}. His powerful voice will not be lifted to quiet the troubled sea, but to call down the judgment of God on the wicked.18.
[16]: In His right hand seven stars. The right hand is the place of honor, see {Ephesians 1:20}. The stars are the "Angels of the seven Assemblies" {V. 20}. This we believe implies that each true God given Assembly that adheres to the correct teaching of Scripture, has a special guardian Angel protecting it, at least for a certain period of time. The "Two-edged sword," is a symbol both of the truth and of the severity of the Word of God, see {Hebrews 4:12; and Revelation 19:15, 21.} His Word will be active in the Coming Judgments. His countenance, His blessed face, here reveals the brilliance, and the splendor of His Holy appearance and strength.19.
[19]: This verse portrays the basic outline of the entire Book of Revelation;(1): Things which you "John" have seen, as recorded in Chapter one;
(2): things which are; i.e., the present state of the Assemblies =
(chapters 2-3); and ...(3): things which shall be hereafter. The third section clearly begins with
{Ch. 4- V. 1}, since the same phrase is used there. {V. 19} is the key verse of the Book ; it indicates the threefold plan of the prophecy [read the introduction of the Book from the Pre-millennial view]; it is the only safe guide to its correct interpretation.Consider The Two White Horses Mentioned In Revelation:
20.
{V. 1} Scripture: "And I saw when the Lamb [Jesus Himself] opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts [living creatures called out] saying, Come and see.21.
{V. 2} And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer, {Revelation 6:1-2}."22.
Commentary, "At this point it is well to make an important distinction. When the Tribulation Period is spoken of, reference is to all seven years of {Daniel 9:27}. The greatest part of this period of God's judgment on the nations covers the last three and a half years of the period. Expositors are far from agreement on when the latter part of the trials on earth will begin. The present writer holds that final part of the Tribulation Period coincides with the events following the prophecy in {Matthew 24:15}. Therefore, the first six seals occur during the first half of Daniel's Seventieth Week. The beginning of sorrows began in {Matthew 24:8}. The first four seals are broken in connection with the four living creatures, but it is only the Lamb "Christ" Who has the power and authority to break the seals. As He does so, more of the contents of the scroll are brought into view.23. The rider on this white horse has been mistakenly identified as Christ by many ministers, in fact he is viewed by the best Theologians who are prophetic scholars, as portraying the Antichrist who falsely presents himself as the Lord Jesus Christ. To identify the rider as any specific person who has lived in the past, is not in keeping with the interpretation of the other horses, which symbolize conditions. It is believed that the rider of all four horses allude to the same person, there is much controversy concerning these verses, it might be more profitable to just wait and see who this rider turns out to be! This rider and the horses could be considered as types of various leaders of nations who have attempted to bring in permanent peace in the past, but have failed just as this rider will fail in the future Tribulation Period, see
{1- Thessalonians 5:3}.24. It is verifiable from many times in the past, and especially in the last century, that before some of the greatest conflicts between nations, there have been powerful attempts at man-made peace. The text possibly indicates a desire to conquer in this area, but does not state that the objective will be achieved. In this passage horses speak of the powerful providential actions connected with the government of the earth partly controlled by the man of sin. We say partly, because if he had complete control why would he have to take drastic action against others to gain his personal desires. [In contrast the following verses refer to someone else altogether]."
======================================================
25.
{V. 11} Scripture: "And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse [appeared]! and He that sat upon him was called Faithful [trustworthy, loyal, incorruptible, steady] and True, and [He passes judgment and wages war] in righteousness [and holiness, thus, meting out justice, and uprightness and] He does judge and make war. See {Ezekiel 1:1}.26.
{V. 12} His eyes were [blazing] as a flame of fire, and on His head were many [kingly] crowns; [diadems] and He had a name [a title] written, that no man knew, [or can understand] but He Himself.27.
{V. 13} And He was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and His name is called The Word of God.28.
{V. 14} And the armies which were in heaven followed Him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.29.
{V. 15} And out of His mouth went a sharp sword, that with it He should smite [afflict, strike] the nations: and He shall rule them with a rod [a staff, a scepter] of iron: and He treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath [and indignation] of almighty God [the All Supreme ruler ... the Almighty, the Omnipotent]. See {Psalm 2:9}.30.
{V. 16} And He has on his vesture [garment or robe] and on His thigh a name [title was] written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS, {Revelation 19:11-16}." See {Daniel 2:47; and Deuteronomy 10:17}.31. In
{Revelation 1:16 and 19:15} we see a sharp sword is in the mouth of the Lord Jesus Christ. In both instances this sword represents the glorious "Word of Almighty God."32.
Commentary, of the above verses: [11]: "Now Heaven is opened to the gaze of John; he had seen it open several times before, see {Revelation 4:1}, but never on such a sight as this, see {Acts 1:11; and Revelation 1:7}. Here John sees the One with garments stained with blood which represents the blood of His enemies. From Bozrah of Isaiah's prediction, the returning Shekinah Glory of Ezekiel's foretelling, the Stone cut out without hands of Daniel's announcement, the Lord coming with His Saints of Zechariah's prophecy, and the appearing of the Son of Man of the Saviour's Own prophecy, {Matthew 24:29-30}. The white horse symbolizes victory and triumph. He is faithful and true in His character and every deed. Indeed, He is the mighty Warrior Who will right the world's every ill, see {Acts 17:31}. He does judge and make war under the same principle, that is, according to His righteous principles of justice."33.
[12]: "The description of His glorious Person continues. That His eyes were as a flame of fire indicates penetrating scrutinizing omniscience. On that blessed head, once crowned at Calvary for sinful men, were many crowns. His is supreme authority. Saints will have crowns; Jesus has many crowns. The Roman beast [Antichrist] of {Revelation 13:1} has crowns also, but only because he assumes absolute authority for a short period of time. But how can one head have many crowns as Christ will have?34. The 24 elders, representing the Body of Christ who will receive crowns at the judgment seat of Christ, will later cast their crowns at the feet of Jesus, they obviously believe that only Christ the Head of the Body of Christ in worthy to have these crowns. Therefore, they cast all their crowns at His feet,
{Revelation 4:10; and 19:4}. These crowns on the Lord's head are in tiers, one above another, indicating highest majesty and authority. Many things have been divulged in the Apocalypse so far, and more will follow to the end of the Book; but there are certain elements which must remain hidden from man, see {Deuteronomy 29:29}. From Scriptural usage it is known that the name written indicates Christ's Own essential glory, which expresses the fulness of His Divine nature."35.
{V. 13}: "The Redeemer is not returning to the earth to save lost sinners, but to judge at the judgment of the nations among other reasons, {Matthew 25:31-46}. His vesture dipped in blood points to the activity in {Isaiah 63:1-6 (see vs. 15}. The judgment of Christ will be exercised to the full. His name is called The Word of God and shows that He is the full expression [as a word is of the thought in the mind] of God, but now in judgment, see {2- Thessalonians 1:7-10}."36.
{V. 14}: "Who are the armies ... upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean? Good men differ as to their identity. All are agreed that they are Believers, redeemed ones; all the O..T. Saints will return with Christ to dwell on the earth with Him, {Revelation 19:14}. Many of them will be Angels who have never sinned, {Jude V. 14}. Many believe that these saved ones are the Body of Christ, which this writer disagrees whole heartedly! But, definitely, the Tribulation Saints, and the Old Testament Saints will return with Him. This writer agrees with this latter explanation. One thing for sure, when this event takes place, {Jude vs. 14-15} will then be fulfilled!"37.
{V. 15}: "The description continues, not merely to fill out the portrait, but to reveal the activity with which the Lord of glory is occupied. The sharp word issuing from the Judge's mouth is undoubtedly the Word of God, see {Isaiah 11:4; and Hebrews 4:12}, but specifically in judgment. The nations, the objects of His rule, will be ruled with a rod of iron, see {Psalm 2:9; and Revelation 12:5}. The rule will be stern and inflexible, but always absolutely righteous. He has ample power to implement His every command. Besides the mention of the sword and rod of iron, there is now the figure of the winepress. Again, this is the figure of the vintage, see {Revelation 14:19-20; and Isaiah 63:1-6}."38.
{V. 16}: "In addition to the two names connected with the return of the Lord Jesus, see {Vs.. 12-13}, there is another name on His vesture and on His thigh. King of Kings, and Lord of Lords. It has been introduced already in {Ch. 17:14}, but in reverse order. It is His full majestic name in His glorious position relative to the earth, visible for all to read. Such a title was arrogantly assumed by men in the ancient Near East. Conquering kings allowed their subjugated, royal enemies to retain their former title in order to convey the idea that they, the victorious ones, were the highest and supreme above all. To be sure, this was empty boasting, but not so with the conquering Christ."================================================
39.
{V. 20} Scripture: "And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone.40. Above verse paraphrased: "And the beast was seized and over-powered, and with him the false prophet who in his presence had worked wonders and performed miracles by which he led astray those who had accepted or permitted to be placed upon them the stamp, computer chip, or mark of the beast, and those who paid homage and gave divine honors to his statue. Both of these two demon possessed men are hurled [future tense] while still alive into the fiery lake that burns and blazes with brimstone."
41.
{V. 21} And the remnant [who were followers of Antichrist ] were slain with the sword [Word] of Him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of His mouth: and all the fowls were filled [fed ravenously and glutted themselves] with their flesh, {Revelation 19:20-21}."42.
Commentary: "Now the chief antagonists, the Antichrist, see {Ch. 13:1} and the false prophet, {13:11}, are seized and thrown alive into the lake of fire. The false prophet [the Antichrist's religious leader of the one world false church system] is singled out, because it was he who worked miracles to seduce and deceive folks during that 7 year Tribulation Period, see {2- Thessalonians 2:1-12}. It is remarkable that these two ungodly leaders find their final place of judgment even before Satan does, see {Ch. 20:7-10}. Their followers are slain by the sword [Word ] of Christ; notice the wording of this next verse:43.
Scripture: "And then shall that lawless one be revealed whom the Lord [Jesus] shall consume [judge into the eternal lake of fire] with the spirit of His mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness [of His appearing] of [at] His coming, {2- Thessalonians 2:8}."44. To learn the literalness of these events, the final word is that the great supper of God will fill the appetite of all the fowls. A horrendous carnage it will be!"
=====================================================
45.
Commentary: Daniel, Paul and John were all captive Jews. Daniel was Nebuchadnezzar's captive and servant, {Daniel 1:3, 6}.Paul Gives A Short Testimony: He States That According To His [Mystery] Gospel:
46.
{V. 9} Scripture: "wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the Word of God is not bound.47. [The word ... "evil doer" in this verse = refers to a criminal, even unto bonds, i.e., even to the point of wearing hand cuffs and leg irons, fetters, perhaps chains].
48.
{V. 10} Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sake, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory, {2- Timothy 2:9-10}."49. Above verse paraphrased: "Therefore I am ready to persevere and stand my ground with patience and endure everything for the sake of the elect [the Lord's chosen], so that they too may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with the reward of eternal life in glory.
50.
Commentary: "Preaching the Gospel of the Mystery which concerns the resurrection of Christ among other things, brought about Paul's persecution. The Lord doesn't always protect His servants from trouble, but preserves them through trouble. Sufferings or trouble are not always the chastening of folks by God or the result of sin. A good soldier should expect suffering while in an enemy's camp or country, {Philippians 1:29}. Remember we as Children of God are fighting the battle for Christ picturing us "as soldiers of the cross." This world is not our home, we are living in a world where we are hated by evil people, and who are to some extent controlled by leaders whom are against Christianity. Even some in our Congress, Senate, and the Supreme Court, have betrayed us in various ways. Many homosexuals, and lesbians have even been elected into high offices to place degrading laws on the dockets for us to follow. No my Christian friend, Heaven is our home not this world!51. Paul suffered for the Gospel's sake, even as an evildoer. The Greek word is a technical word meaning malefactor. Persecuting Christians and consenting to their death didn't make him a criminal, but preaching the Gospel did in the eyes of the Jews! How often certain folks who curses, drink, and carouses around with the unsaved become saved themselves, and then if they are intelligent Believers they stop all that nonsense. And, then they too receive persecution from friends and loved ones for trying to live right. "Think it not strange?"
See {1- Peter 4:12.} Paul was bound, but the Word of God wasn't bound, he still witnessed! The facts were that these things happened for the "furtherance of the Gospel," {Philippians 1:12}.52. The reverse is often true today. People are free but their tongue is bound! The Apostle said to "Endure all things," he said it beautifully in
{Acts 20:24} when he stated, "None of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself ..." For the elect's sake. It was a joy for Paul to suffer for this great Mystery Gospel because when he did so he was actually suffering on behalf of the elect. The persecution which Paul endured would most certainly be a tremendous source of encouragement for other Believers. He did not suffer vicariously for Believers, as Christ did, but his strength in suffering incited them to action. He would endure anything to see them saved, and now would endure anything to encourage them."=================================================================================
53.
Scripture: "Withal [at the same time] praying for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak [and teach] the MYSTERY of Christ, for which I am also in bonds, {Colossians 4:3}."54.
Commentary: "At the same time {Ephesians 6:18-19}. That the Lord would open the door of the present dispensation of the Mystery to us. Only God had the power to perform this feat, see {1- Corinthians 16:7-9; and Revelation 3:7}. A door for the Word of God, not the door of the prison the Apostle spent valuable time incarcerated in. Paul is asking them to pray that he will have the opportunity to proclaim the Word of God, {1- Corinthians 16:9; and 2- Corinthians 2:12}.55. This
Gospel of the Mystery of Christ is in us, as opposed to the senseless mysteries of the Gnostics, "[a Gnostic was a member of any certain sect among early Christians who claimed to have superior knowledge of spiritual things, and explained the world as created by powers or agencies arising as "emanations (acts or facts) from the Godhead"] We believe that there are many Gnostics around us even at this present time! Paul made clear that he was conscious that his fetters are the result of preaching about Christ. He was kept in prison, but yet he had opportunities to witness, {Philippians 1:12}."The Apostle John Also Has A Testimony To Give:"
56.
Scripture: "I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the Word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ, {Revelation 1:9}."57. "[ We have mentioned John's Revelation. But,
{Revelation 1:1} reads: The Revelation of Jesus Christ]."58. The above
{V. 9} paraphrased: "I John your brother and companion ... sharer and participator ... with you in the tribulation and kingdom and patient endurance [which are] in Jesus Christ, was on the isle called Patmos [a small island in the Aegean Sea, SW. of Ephesus], [banished] on account of [my witnessing to] the Word of God and the testimony ... the proof, the evidence ... for Jesus Christ."59.
Commentary: "John already seen in {V. 4}, identifies himself with his Christian readers as their brother, and companion in tribulation, etc. The tribulation referred to is not the one so fully described in Daniel's 70th week of testing, but his present trials of the time common to all Believers during his lifetime and afterward, see {Acts 14:22}. Folks in John's time endured persecution under the widespread persecutions of Domitian the Roman emperor. The kingdom mentioned we believe, is a reference to the future Millennial earthly Kingdom that shall be established by Messiah at His Second Coming. The perseverance spoken of is that patience and steadfastness required in the midst of persecutions. As the reader knows, Christians in many nations are still being persecuted and murdered by those whom are followers of Satan.Paul Now Gives Another Testimony Concerning Himself:
60.
{V. 11} Scripture: "But I certify you [want you to know] brethren, that the Gospel [of the Mystery] which was preached of me [was proclaimed and made known by me and ], is not after men [ that is, is not man's gospel ... a human invention, according to or patterned after any human standard].61.
{V.12} For I neither received it of men, neither was I taught it but [it came to me] by the [direct] REVELATION [given by] of Jesus Christ, {Galatians 1:11-12}."62. Paul called the Gospel of Christ that was issued to him exclusively =
"my Gospel."] {Romans 2:16; 16:25; and 2- Timothy 2:8}.63.
Commentary: [11]: "These two verses are very important to Bible students, so please pay close attention to what they disclose: Paul states " I certify you," I make known, inform, tell you plainly, assure you. This word [Greek 'gnorizo'] is used to introduce matters of great importance, see {1- Corinthians 12:3; 15:1; and 2- Corinthians 8:1}. Paul uses a strong word to leave no doubt as to the truth of the statement he is about to make. Brethren, Paul addresses them as Brethren in Christ, sons of the same Heavenly Father. They are deceived, disturbed, and defecting in their devotion and duty to Christ. But they are still regarded as Brethren, Brethren needing Paul's Spirit-inspired counsel.64. He states concerning this
Mystery Gospel which was given to himself personally, and literally, preached by Himself, and it was not received from other men. Neither was it the former Kingdom Gospel that the 12 Apostles had taught. He sets the record straight. He affirms the Divine origin of his message in terms similar to those used to declare the Divine origin of his apostle-ship. Both in mission and his message are independent of man, both received by direct Divine revelation from the risen Christ."65.
[12]: "Men had absolutely nothing to do with Paul's Mystery Gospel which is affirmed in {Ephesians 3:9}. This new Gospel which would now "superseded the former Kingdom Gospel" was now revealed to Paul by the Lord Jesus Christ. No man knew anything about it before Paul received it from the Lord, therefore, it failed to become known or received from man as a source or through man as a channel. The preposition [Greek 'para'] translated 'of' emphasizes the idea of transmission and connects the giver with the receiver. Paul did not receive the Mystery Gospel "from" man, period. Thus, he says, "Neither was I taught it." Paul was taught the precepts of Judaism at the feet of Gamaliel {Acts 5:34; and 22:3}, but he received no human interpretation of the Gospel of the Mystery. On the contrary, he obtained this knowledge by the revelation bestowed by Christ Himself.66. Therefore, there was nothing human about it. It was a direct Divine communication of previously unknown truth. The word "Revelation" is used of the unveiling of Divine persons or things never of one human revealing a secret to another person. Paul refers to his experience on the road to Damascus
{Acts Ch. 9}, which was supplemented during his seclusion in Arabia. The words in the verse, "Of Jesus Christ," this can mean either Christ is revealing or Christ is revealed; both interpretations make good sense. Christ revealed Himself to Paul, and Jesus was the subject, sum, and substance of that revelation with the result that Paul became a new man with a new message to proclaim. Paul was not a man-ordained Apostle. He became a God-ordained Ambassador, of the King of the universe. He received his commission and his marching orders and messages from the risen Christ.67. Note again the following ...
Scripture: "How that by revelation He made known unto me [Paul ] the MYSTERY; [as I wrote before in few words, {Ephesians 3:3}."68.
Commentary: "Paul's Mystery was the Mystery of Christ. The same Lord Jesus Christ Who visited John on Patmos for the REVELATION of Himself one day appeared to Paul in the temple in Jerusalem and said something to Paul:69.
{V. 17} Scripture: "And it came to pass, that, when I was come again to Jerusalem even while I prayed in the temple, I was in a trance;70.
{V. 18} And saw Him [the Lord Jesus and He was] saying to me, Make haste, and get yourself quickly out of Jerusalem: for they will not receive your testimony concerning Me.71.
{V. 19} And I said, Lord, they know that I imprisoned and beat [people] in every synagogue [Hebrew assembly] them that believe on You:72.
{V. 20} And when the blood of the martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by, and consenting unto his death, and kept the raiment of them that slew him.73.
{V. 21} And He [the Lord] said unto me, depart: for I will send you far hence unto the Gentiles, {Acts 22:17-21}."74.
Commentary: "Daniel, the Lord's prophet, departed from Jerusalem and went to Babylon where he witnessed to the Gentiles also, and to kings as did Paul. Note what Christ said concerning Paul at the time he was saved:"75.
Scripture: "... [But the Lord said to him,] He [Paul ] is a chosen vessel [instrument, Ambassador] unto Me, to bear My Name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children [descendants] of Israel, {Acts 9:15}."76.
Commentary: "Paul would later make frequent references to the fact that he was called of Christ to be the Apostle to the Gentiles, see {Galatians 1:15-16}. As Saul had been the minister of suffering to many Believers, he himself would now be the recipient of much suffering, both at the hands of Believers, and especially at the hands of his own kinsmen, the Jews."77.
Commentary: Just how Daniel the prophet reached Babylon as King Nebuchadnezzar's servant is told in the last two chapters of Jeremiah and in the last two chapters of {2- Kings}. Special emphasis today is being given to the fulfillment of the prophecies of Isaiah, Ezekiel and Daniel, as many Christian preachers endeavor so earnestly to prove that these Old Testament prophets foretold with accuracy what is taking place on this earth today.78. They make the mistake of believing this because of the rapidity with which world events are moving, and because of the persecution of the Jews by several nations and their people, such as France, Russia, Germany, and the Islamic nations. These Ministers do believe and understand that the ancient Roman Empire which was a type of the European Common Market that is being established today, will be the fulfillment of certain prophecies. Thus, because many Jews have been returning to their homeland in Israel, they quote
Luke to try to prove their point:79.
{V. 29} Scripture: "And He [Christ ] spoke to them a parable; Behold the fig tree [Israel ], and all the trees [the Gentile nations];80.
{V. 30} When they [the buds on the trees] now shoot forth [and come out in leaf], you see and know of your own selves that [ the ] summer [ the Millennial reign of Christ ] is now near at hand, {Luke 21:29-30}."81.
Commentary: "All this has to do with the next dispensations and cannot be fulfilled during this dispensation of grace! The prophecies in Luke above concern Israel not the Body of Christ of today. Notice that the verse states that 'summer' which is speaking of the future Millennial reign is predicted to be "near at hand" for Israel after she becomes a nation [1948], but this "Summer ...
