You want to know more about me?
Born on a farm in Fairmont, Minnesota, Kevin Spencer soon forced those around him to realize he was in charge! This "belief" was cemented when his parents brought home first one, and then another, "brother" for him to boss around. Yes, in those early years Kevin was the source of many a headache. Lucky for the world, Kevin toned down his evil inclinations and channeled his energies into more useful and creative avenues.
He graduated from high school with honors in 1990 and went on to attend college at Minnesota State University, Mankato. He started out with a triple major in Art, Elementary Education and Theatre Arts... but soon realized that was insane. He eventually graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Elementary Eduation and a minor in Theatre Arts. Since then, he has returned to Mankato to pursue a graduate degree in Library/Media.
Kevin was hired as a teacher for a very challenging group of third graders in Truman, Minnesota in 1995. Unfortunately (or fortunately... depending on how you look at it) his position was cut at the end of the school year. He then spent two years substitute teaching. Four of those months were spent as an Elementary music and High School Choir teacher.
In January, 1999 Kevin was hired as a Library Paraprofessional for the Martin County West Schools. To his surprise, he became the Library/Media Generalist for two schools a few months later. He was extremely happy working with the staff and students in Sherburn and Welcome until the administration made the stupid decision to cut all of the district Library Media teachers. After that he was hired as Media Specialist for Central Elementary School in Norwood Young America where he is kept very busy.
Kevin also enjoys painting, walking, riding his bike, reading and theatre. He has appeared as Pharaoh in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," Albert in "Bye, Bye Birdie," and Louis in "Lost in Yonkers." Most recently he was Jesus in "Jesus Christ Superstar." Kevin has also directed many children's, high school and community theatre productions.
