"When I was 17, sitting in Mr. Nelson's chemistry class, I couldn't imagine staying in school another 10+ years.When I was 19, I figured out that I would have to get a Ph.D. to get the type of job I wanted. I couldn't imagine it would take more than 9+ years to be done with school.

When I was 29, I was still in school, making myself miserable by working 80+ hours a week, and earning less per hour than I did in high school (there's the downside to being paid a stipend/salary - work all you want, the pay's the same). I couldn't imagine why I had stayed in school for so long.
I was a student for 25 years. Now I'm on the faculty of the University of Georgia and the University of South Carolina. I have one of the best jobs in the world. Now, I can't imagine ever being done with school..."
