Oklahoma is a very young state, as states go, and,
as such, has a short history, relative to the history of this
country.
This page constitutes of a list of Oklahomans who have made significant or interesting contributions in various fields of endeavor. Admittedly, some of the people listed are not household names, but their achievements certainly merit recognition!
The listings include native-born Okies, except as indicated by
(*), which denotes people born elsewhere who have either made
Oklahoma their home or lived a significant portion of their lives
here. One or two we have simply "adopted" as our own. For now, my source is what is available on the net and, as often as possible, links are provided. Although I cannot vouch for the accuracy of information in the links provided, I have tried to find what appear to be "reliable" information/links.
I repeat, this is far from complete! Any information/clarification/suggestions you can offer would be welcomed and appreciated, and please let me know as links go "dead" - the net changes so quickly, it is difficult to keep links current!
