I named this page for one of my favorite great women of history. Hypatia lived in Alexandria, Egypt from 370 A.D. to her death in 415 A.D. She is probably best remembered as a philosopher, astronomer, teacher, and physicist.
Hypatia was also probably one of the last pagan scholar-priestesses. She was murdered by a mob of extreme right wing Christians. Even though today's Pope is a really nice guy who actually cares about this world and its people, the pope they had back when Hypatia was alive was a real scumbag. According to some sources, he had Hypatia killed because she was in his way. She had the nerve to be a woman, AND educated, AND have political views that differed from the Church--not to mention the fact that she was an openly Pagan individual in an area where the Pope was trying to convert a lot of people to Christianity.
My name is Jenny, and among my co-workers, I'm known as one of the "Circ Girls." I work in a library in mid-Missouri. I can be found at the Circulation Desk (hence the nickname), the Computer Lab, the Reference Desk (filling in for lunches and such), or just about anywhere in the library shelving books, videos, or cassettes. I love my job.
On the personal side, I'm 25 years old, and I have a 5-year-old daughter. I love computers, hiking, cats, living in the country, reading books, and Star Trek--not necessarily in that order. My favorite authors are Anne McCaffrey, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Barbara Hambly, C. J. Cherryh, Elizabeth Moon, Elizabeth Ann Scarborough, and Melanie Rawn, although I have been known to read others.
