Design process

Working with the skilled craftpeople of Old World Stone Carving allows the client to have whatever object he or she may desire, in virtually any media. The transition from desire to object can be simple, as in a direct reproduction of a particular historic piece, or it can be complex and abstract, as in translating a particular word or activity into a visual statement.

Dale Johnson (BFA), founder and head designer of Old World Stone Carving, has helped hundreds of clients distill their imaginings into tangible objects. He is trained in technical drawing, sculpture, and has extensive experience in many techniques, media and styles.

Any source can be a beginning; architect's plans, magazine photos, or simply spoken descriptions can foster the design that fulfills the needs of the client.

Please remember that all objects made by Old World Stone Carving are unique; once an object is complete, it is no longer availalable. We will not sell a design executed for one client to another.
