According to Celtic myths, Balor was an infamous warrior with an evil eye. Those who happened to be in his sight died imediately. In his old age, he could hardly move, and to ward off enemies, his people would carry him out and remove the blindfold on his evil eye.
Balor was destined to be killed by his grandson.
