A Short History of
First Congregational Church of Hanover

The First Congregational Church of Hanover was organized December 5, 1729. Prior to the church being built services were held at the home of Mrs. & Mrs. Samuel Stetson. The Pastor-Elect , Rev. Benjamin Bass, started the church with a meager ten members. The present Church, (in the photo) built in 1863, is the fourth. Previous structures were either demolished or destroyed by fire. Unfortunately Church Records from 1869-1885 are missing.
